Throwing o2 code Question, Spark Plug Non Fouler Options

Welp, been out for quite some time but I am back to ask a question (hopefully Bitter will read this). I have two 02 sensors in my afternmarket header in the same location, one about 2" above the other. Why? I have no clue and yes it sounds stupid and it may even appear that I don't know what I am talking about but please beleive me...the header's 4 to 1 pipe (the 1 pipe part) has both o2 sensors in it and there is no cat or pre cat or anything at all.

So...the non fouler spark plug kit, will it work to put it in bank 2 ? I am throwing a code and says o2 bank 1 or 2 and I replaced bank 1 a couple months ago with an OEM one.

Is the non spark plug fouler kit a direct screw in fixer? I have no 02 in my cat at all. I even considered re-wiring the second o2 to reach my cat and add a bung and wld it right into it.

Help please?

I have 2 sensors in my headers as well, you could try cleaning them. Either with a sensor safe cleaner or heat it up with a propane torch till it turns red, dip it in water, then blow dry it with an air hose. Either way i would just recommend replacing it with an oem replacement. but you could try cleaning it before you replace it. Hope this helps. Which one did you replace, the threaded one or the one that requires nuts and a gasket?

you've got a precat sensor and a post cat sensor. seeing as you have aftermarket headders, (without a catalytic converter) then your error is due to the fact that your car is wondering why the exhauset is just as dirty before and after the cat converter. it's trying to tell you that something is wrong with your cat. (duh because you ain't got one )

Thanks gentlemen. Cyber, I did try to clean it to no avail but thanks for the tip any way! D-Man, I know why it's throwing the code, I just need to fix it now. I was thinking the non fouler kit would work because I think it tricks the ecu somehow (not sure on this) and my last resort is to extend the wire at the header to the cat under the car and plug it right in. That might work?

Bitter, you wrote this in response to a guy having a similar problem. I don't think he gave it a shot but I will! Can you elaborate on this??
"some 3rd gen eclipse folk have had luck using a spark plug anti-fouler to space the sensor out a little so it gets a cleaner sample and doesnt trip the light. but im not sure if this would work for the toyota sensor, it needs to be the kind that screws into the pipe, not the flanged type."

i've heard of using a resistor in the line as well. you just have to dumb it to the propper spec.

actually you'd want something more like a capacitor to normalize and slow the swings of the sensors output


google is your friend, google for spark plug non fouler oxygen sensor trick or something till you find what you need to find. its there.

Alright, so I can't find the non fouler kit that would work for my celica. They have them available but they are too long (I'm looking for the ones that are short like in the pictures of cars that use them for tricking the ecu).

Anyway, I went ahead and had my o2 sensor relocated right behind the cat under my car. Here's my setup: ebay header with o2 bank 1 in it, goes into flex pipe, goes into high-flow cat with o2 sensor bank 2 welded right after it, goes into high-flow resonator, goes into muffler.

I still have a check engine light but that may be because the ecu hasn't reset. How do I reset and check??
