ok i got the hood i won from ebay in today and mounted it on the ST. anywho i thought that the hood would close even if the safety hook wasnt long enough. but i guess i thought wrong? the hindge thing falls short about 1/2 - 1 cm >.> is this how it is for everyone too or can you close yours even without the GT4 hood latch?

I highly doubt that is how the hood is for everyone who "upgrades" theirs. Hmm.. looks real good though smile.gif, just need to get it to shut even now =D.

no it's OEM.. the hood is really light and it doesnt seem to have the weight to close itself. do i have to like slam it or something for it to close? cause the safety hook hits it when i try to close it.. maybe pushes it back up?

You need to extend the hook on your stock latch, or buy the gt4 one. Be very careful with how you drive the car with the unmodified latch, as those hoods have flown up during driving on a lot of people on here without properly being closed (happened to me!).
Once you fix the latch it will close correctly, but you will still have a gap between your stock bumper and the hood because the gt4 bumper comes up higher to flow flush with the hood.

i am using the stock latch (unmodified) and have no problems so far, its been nearly a year now. as for closing it should be no problem just pushing on the very front lip of the hood until it clicks down, just be careful not to push on the hood skin as you don't want to dent it, i plan on extending the safety hook here this next month or so myself as i have never found a new latch, so i guess what i'm trying to say as i ramble on is be a lil more forcefull (carefully) and it will close properly for you.

What I did was with my stock GT latch when I got my GT-Four hood. If you unbolt the two outer bolts of the latch then loosen the middle bolt on the latch you can actually raise the latch a few Cm's up then tighten the middle bolt nice and tight, but remember the two outer bolts wont work anymore cause the latch is higher so the bolts wont go into the holes on the radiator support bar. I did this cause I had to force the hood hood very hard at first to get it too lock in place and it sat lower than the front bumper which looked ridiculous. I highly recommend extending the safety latch so you can fit your fingers under the hood to be able to open it. After doing this I can gently close my hood and lightly press down to lock it in place. Also given I have the GT-Four front bumper too, but this would work in your case too. hehe

did you even read the sticky? this has been covered 100 times. only the GT4 bumper will fit perfectly with teh GT4 hood. so you are stuck with teh gap. unless you modify the mounting of the stock hood. so again, read the sticky!

my original question was if people were able to close their GT4 hood even if they didnt extend the safety hook yet cause mine wouldnt close before. i wasnt asking if theirs had a gap over a stock bumper -_-. anywho i already fixed it so it closes now. i have a GT4 bumper coming so the hook is getting welded before i mount that on.. sorry for the misunderstanding
