Well, after joining the military, I had to regrettably sell my old Celica:

I was heartbroken as I lover her dearly. Thankfully though, I was lucky enough to be stationed in Okinawa, Japan; where Celicas abound! So I was blessed with the luck of finding me a 1998 SS-II with the beams motor with only 78000 km. (that's only 48500mi) The car came pretty loaded with power folding mirrors, auto climate control, and the automatic has a performance setting (holds gears longer and downshifts quicker) or a manual setting in which the auto shifter acts like a clutch-less manual. (Keep the stick in 2nd and it will stay there, even when stopped and then starting forward.) I am slowly playing with it and going to change and mod but at the moment I am having a blast driving it around (it's hella fast). Any suggestions as to what I should do would be openly greeted! smile.gif

Enjoy!

I've seen a picture of a GT-4 with those buttons by the shifter and I figured it was just some something for show...but wow, I never knew that there was an automated manual for our cars. Interesting.

Wait, now that I see you mentioning two...I have the same thing, so I guess that's nothing special. NVM then.

Anyway, great looking Celica though. Those wheels are beautiful.

Clean Celica. thumbsup.gif

So are you stationed at Foster, Futenma, Lester, or further north on the island? I spent 6 years living on Foster.

Thanks for the comments! I'm actually stationed at Kadena AB. Haven't been here that long but liking it so far. The wheels are Advan Racing, RCII series. Sadly the previous owner got too close to some curbs and they have a little curb rash on them >.< One day I may get them stripped and powder-coated though.

If at all possible and for a reasonable price, yeah I would love to bring my baby back to the states. i would also like to try to outfit it while I'm here though since I'm in the land of JDM parts being readily available anyway biggrin.gif

The intake is listed as a 96-99 Toyota 4runner v6. Everything fits nicely but the silicon tube from intake to TB is too small on one end. You will need to get a straight 3" silicon tube to fit perfectly. As for the idle, it has been on for 2 months now and no problems. It does idle a little high at start-up but lowers after the engine warms up. Do note that it sounds loud when you step on it, I've caught quite a few people looking at me oddly when i drive by since I still have the stock quiet exhaust on there and the intake whooshes.
