1. How hard is it to rebuild a stock turbo? Anything special or level obtained to up the trim level?

2. What does it mean when your engine runs hot? Temp is fine, but massive heat comes from under the hood.

i can only answer to n°2:
is your car turboed? if so, have you wrapped your turbo and co with some kind of heat insulation?if not this may be the cause to your massive heat problem.

1 car is, the other isn't yet they both run very hot. The turbo one I know has an issue, as I can't even hear it spool up, yet I slightly hear the stock bov go off, even during acceleration (when it shouldn't).

replacing seals on a turbo is not a huge deal. anything more than that requires balancing, which requires the turbo to be spun at high speed.

these engines do feel like they run hot when you open the hood, but its pretty typical.

as long as your gauge is reading good, then you are good. it does seem hot under the hood, but thats the norm.

Thanks, I know you know about turbos. The thing is it doesn't spool, or you can't hear it, no matter what you set the manual boost too, however the gauge reads all the same during acceleration no matter what (and on these old cars, you can expect the OEM boost gauge to be crap anyways). I was thinking of just taking off the intake just to see what the blade looks like or if it even spins and then go from there.
