Today a Toyota mechanic diagnosed my car.... Gotta replace wheel bearing, front left shock and CV joint. Quoted me 1400 in parts alone. Gotta find some second hand parts!

At autozone the strut is $80, the axle is $60, and the bearing is prolly $120 to $200. The strut and axle have a lifetime warranty, the bearing a 1-3 year. Not as high of quality as the genuine toyota parts but much cheaper. If you do the labor yourself its a great deal but if your paying a mechanic for labor then the warranties dont help out as much.

You might want to replace both sides BTW, not that you have to but these parts tend to wear equally on both sides of the vehicle.(actually quicker on the passenger side because most drivers hit more speedbumps and potholes with the pass side)

Thanks for the advice, but unfortunatly i live in Norway. We dont have all those stores over here. Im prob gonna end up buying some CV joint kits on ebay for 200$ shipped, and complete wheel hubs with working bearings so it will be bolt on.

Think im gonna buy 1 shock of toyota though, as it need to be fixed to pass the EU regulations. I will be mounting my D2 coils after the EU inspection, but as the D2 arnt TUV approved i cant have them on during the inspection. So in total i guess ill end up with about 500$ total.

The shocks wasn´t that expensive, at ONLY 250$ a piece.

And about the wearing. I replaced the CV joint on the passenger side last year. and will most probably replace both this time as well, to get equal wear.

But yeah, expensive parts! No track day for a couple weeks frown.gif

Woke up early. Messed with my stereo. Rotated the tires, changed the oil. Advanced the timing, droped her another 1/2 inch. Sat on the porch sipping a corona smiling at my baby. Then took her out for a hop lap around town blairing bubbles- bodubi ... whatever that song is. Drove out to the lake and had myself a little photoshoot. Drove home and parked her to cool down for tonight.

On ours you want to try to lift on the flange under the rocker panel. The spare tire jacks in the trunk have a groove cut into them to safely grab the flange without damaging it. Only other thing I can think of to remind you is to not lift midway across the chassis, make sure to place the jack under the front or rear door jambs but never under the door and threshold plate.
