They do lack the torque of the 5S. It's almost the exact same as the 7A though... and with such a small car, you feel the power more, so it's an even trade IMO. I love how you can feel the engine through the shifter. The way it shakes in my hand makes me feel more connected with the car. (Isn't there a way of doing this on the Celica too? I mean the trans is not right below the shifter like in the Miata, but isn't it the bushing mod?) I switched the lights on and off around 5 times total while driving just because. I really need to get a "pop-up" headlight car. AE86, where art thou? Just blow out the bushings, then you'll feel it. Meh, could always get a S13 240SX. I think you'd like one, doesn't weigh much more than the GT Celica but has more power and torque as well. That and the proper wheels move the car. The only S13 that I've liked is this kids 400hp one. No popup headlights, but Jesus does it throw you back when boost kicks in. This post has been edited by RabidTRD: Aug 16, 2013 - 9:55 AM -------------------- 1994 Toyota Celica GT-S 5S-FE 190k Miles. Traded our 09 TC with 224,500 miles for a 2003 BMW 325xi with 150,000 miles and $2500. We needed a 4 door and refuse to have a car payment. We also hated the fact we couldn't get a new Corolla S in a stick. The BMW is an auto, but it'll be solid for my long commute. Of course, once the 6GC is back on the road, I'll drive it as much as possible until the first snowfall. We only did it because of the large amount of cash on top. If we like it, we'll probably trade it for a 330xi with a stick.
So glad she hates automatic as much as I do. |

You have to remember the Celica is the weakest car I've ever had by a long shot, I'm used to having power. Understood. Most powerful I've operated was a Charger R/T, so 340bhp, I believe? Not much. The Celica is my first car so I guess that's why I don't mind it. Although, the fact that I could drift on a stock setup in the Miata was nice lol. This can't be stressed enough. There is hardly a corner where a Miata can't handle being safely slithered about. I love that on a stupid morning commute, it can put a smile on your face in any ordinary turn. Finally figured out one of the popping noises..
Dunno what to call them besides brake hardware, or pad clips. The clips that go on the caliper/pad bracket I assume were worn to the point that when I hit brakes, or go in reverse, the pads would slap against the bracket. Quite the loud pop, snap noise. New hardware, no more noise. Now just 1 more pop in the steering area on the driver side, and I may have finally got them all. |

So far the most powerful car I've owned was 340 hp and 480 ft lb, all under 4,000 RPM. So going from cars like that to the Celica is a big change. The Miata is a fun car around the city, back roads, and mountains. If that's what all of my driving comprised of I'd buy one yesterday. Sadly probably about some 90% of my driving is on the highway, some of them more fun than others though. One I like as it actually curves and dips here and there, then the Celica is fun. What's really funny is having someone ride your ass only to lose them through turns doing the speed limit. -------------------- 2001 Miata LS 5-speed

Installed 15mm spacers and extended lugs. Front looks great...rear needs to be brought out more...still looks better than stock. Next up headlights.

Installed my viper alarm today that I took out of the parts car, works great, but I just need to figure out how to wire the remote start for a manual car. There's a wire for the neutral safety switch on the alarm so I think that needs to go to the clutch start switch? Idk I'll figure it out.
Need to put my front plate back on as well as get a light for it since I don't have any front driving lights. |

Neutral safety and clutch interlock serve the same purpose.

What's really funny is having someone ride your ass only to lose them through turns doing the speed limit. I do this all the time. I had a stupid SAAB with a huge aftermarket turbo on it racing me down the highway. He had to take the same exit I did, and I took it at the same speed as the highway, he had to slow way down or he'd spin out lol. By the exit, I was gone and I could hear him gunning it behind me. He finally caught up to me at a stoplight and gave me the thumbs up lol. -------------------- 1994 Toyota Celica GT-S 5S-FE 190k Miles. Project car 1992 Toyota Celica GT 5S-FE 170k Miles. I don't care if it means I'm doing 5 under, I'm following within a safe distance. Also I had the strangest dream, I was driving a Celica convertible. Doesn't make any sense whatsoever. -------------------- 2001 Miata LS 5-speed

I might start selling them, if there is market and me being an asshole, there might not be a how to.
Basically, you cut the housing, make a piece of plexiglass fit in that cut, fix it to the housing, light up the plexi with LEDs. Started on the second mirror. I'll buy LEDs tomorrow and maybe Tuesday I can paint them and have finished pictures. -------------------- |

Got back from IL today. Checked all my fluids and went to start it up. Dead battery. I thought to myself no way. Checked all terminals and they were good. Then it decided to start so I let it run for 20 minutes. Went in ate dinner and when I went to go to the store it was dead again. I got so mad and was about to go get a new one but decided to check the acid level. Somehow one cell was 1/4 full and the rest were at 3/4. Filled them all up and now its perfect again. Hopefully that'll sort out all the gremlins in my car for a while

Maybe someone stole the sulfuric acid to make meth. Look for suspicious shacks and sheds in your proximity.

I parked by a fifth gen earlier. I still say somehow putting a 5th gen front clip onto a 6th gen would turn out nicely.

And parking effort is very good... Until one of the 4WD's drive through you to get out I didn't realize you had to do rego inspections in NSW. It is a good idea, but in QLD unless you sell up or leave it unregistered the transport department doesn't want to see it (apart from on fines of course ). -------------------- SOLD :( 1997 ST204 Celica ZR -----> See it here on 6GC! 2013 October Celica of the Month XD Now: '00 NB8B Mazda MX5 -----> See it here in off topic! |
