I did further research and no MR2, nor mid-engine RWD car, is a snow car, so NA6 it is. The only snow in Florida is snorted off of hookers. . -------------------- 2001 Miata LS 5-speed

Yesterday I chased an issue with the transmission not wanting to go into first. Topped off the transmission fluid, which only required a tenth of a quart. Flushed the brake fluid partially by removing most of the fluid from the master cylinder, putting in fresh fluid and cycling it, repeating the process a few times. The shifting has improved but it's still reluctant sometimes, so now I'm wondering if there's something amiss in the cables. The clutch master rod travel should be within spec.

Ouch, sorry to hear that! Are you at a complete stop? or close to it? Yes, and yes. Hmm that is odd, I never had a problem unless I was trying to get it in first above 20mph. Which to this day I dunno if it is possible on 6th gen Celicas. I couldn't in the GT or ST, but any other car I drive, when I press the clutch down, it doesn't matter what gear or speed relation. |

Today I received a package in the mail:
Supposedly a set of OEM floor lights for a Celica. I can't find any information on them, although I remember a recent thread. They may be dealer option. Either way, I'm not going to use them since I already have white LED strips that are much brighter and much cheaper than these. I'll probably resell these. -------------------- "Employ your time in improving yourself by other men's writings, so that you shall gain easily what others labored hard for." -Socrates. Changed the driver side parking brake cable and torqued the front hub down to spec. Found out that my pagan get side is also seized I also figured out that the rust is so bad on the pass rear quarter where the sunroof drains, that's it's cracked and braking now. Def going to the body shop come spring.

I was told it was a safety feature? My brothers 91 Integra does the same thing too. Can't go into first while rolling unless you're like at 10mph or lower. -------------------- |

I was told it was a safety feature? My brothers 91 Integra does the same thing too. Can't go into first while rolling unless you're like at 10mph or lower. I would say it's a safety feature, but not applicable in my situation since it happens from a dead stop as well. Sometimes it just doesn't want to slide into first (from neutral), almost as if I'm not depressing the clutch. I'm flushing the clutch master fluid through a bit more today, hopefully that will do something. Tomorrow I'll check over the linkages, it almost seems like the top of the shifter rod sits more toward me than it used to. To me, that indicates that one of the cables is pushing to the right, even though a quick visual check through the shifter assembly doesn't look like anything out of the ordinary.
