Today it warmed up a bit and I had a little time so I installed the fuel filter that's been in my back seat for weeks. I had gone to Sears just so I could find a 6point 17mm box end for the banjo nut on the top so I could get it off without rounding it. Once it came off I tipped it on it's side and could see the muddy grey gasoline pouring out of it. And I had my brother watch the fuel line while I started it to be sure it wasn't leaking, and sure enough the bottom leaked the first time and I needed to torque it a bit more. And what a big difference it made in the way it idles and accelerates, even just the sound of the motor is much better. Thanks for sharing. I m going to have do that too |

today, I installed Lexus door latches with plastic covers.
Also pulled back seats and center console and ran the wiring for my subs. Now rolling with 2 Polk db 12's with 1200 watts of power, so much better. |

Yesterday I got to start a Fina McLaren F1 GTR, that was very special. I also appreciated and drove my car like I should, had a Camaro RS pull alongside to ask if Celica or Supra.

had my first proper drive since my water pump imploded and the car spent three weeks on stands while I did my first ever big job on a car by changing the water pump and timing belt. it was an absolute labour of love only being able to do an hour here or there and as soon as she started and i checked that the timing was right i could feel the biggest smile on my face and the experience has reinforced how i feel about these cars completely. now looking to my next job to do which is get rid of most of the induction system and fit a cold air intake, then its a short shifter, then poly bushes all around possibly rear sway bar. all the while correcting the stuff the moron who had her before me made a crap job of. oh then brakes, maybe a power deck spacer, and reupholster and heated seats. then in the summer i think im gona have a go at plastidiping her black. this is gona cost me a fortune. oh well.

Sounds almost word for word what the plans are for mine, Vinny.
I fancy doing the Accord CAI swap out (christ, the airbox in these motors are ugly) and I think the timing belt and head skim is essential, so that's gotta be done soon. Any tips? What engine you driving? And I looked at PlastiDip too, you gonna brave it? btw, today I swapped out the Distro and Rotor Arm, washed and waxed the car (looks stunning again!) , but then pulled a chunk of split, old, paint off the front near the headlight, so that's gonna need sorting! |
