Ahh, well if you already have all of the parts to convert it that's another story.
At least changing the valve cover gasket is easy on the Celica. This post has been edited by Box: Jun 11, 2014 - 3:33 AM -------------------- 2001 Miata LS 5-speed

Converting from manual to auto is easier. I rather do an engine swap than to do a manual conversion. Honestly if it were me... Depending on the price of the GT you found and what you could get from the one you have now, I'd just buy the other one and transfer everything to it gradually. The only thing I see being a problem is that you'll be going to OBDII.

Today I.....discovered that I am a walking waffle. I decided to do a v6 swap on my 94 GT. Then immediately following this decision decided to do a 4th gen 3SGTE swap. Followed closely by my next decision to swap in a BEAMS 3SGE. Then I took a breath and decided I'm undecided and need a drink(juice) LMAO.

I was in your same situation, I love my car but disliked the transmission. I had never delved into anything that mechanically deep, but it was all fine. Like Nico said, with the right tools and time, money, and patience as lubrication, the work goes okay. -------------------- '97 ST \ Eibach \ KYB \ Kenwood \ Alpine \ Cusco \ OEM+ [sold 10/18]

Meh, you're only about a quarter as bad as I am. Just in the last few days I've changed my mind on which car to buy over four times.

I like the second generation CR-X, for some reason I always really have. Currently I'm looking for the AW11/SW20 MR2, NA Miata, or AE86 Corolla. Though that'll probably change in the next two days, so who knows.

True, I know I can do it, it's just the doing it part. It's the cheaper route as I don't have much left I need to get. I don't think it will be a weekend job for me tough. My car will probably be down for a month when I do the swap and my suspension rebuild. -------------------- |

Well, another thing to consider is you're actually making the car worth less by making it a manual. Only an enthusiast will want the manual. You have to remember for the bulk of the population it's just a stylish beater to save fuel with. Sad, but true. I can't tell you how many times someone would stop and look at my car, and now with my brother's 5-speed Maxima, only to shake their head stating they can't drive stick and then leave. It's something to consider. If having an OBDII car doesn't pose any more trouble with registering the car and etc... where you live I say go for it. You'll have the newest year of this generation, so that's something else to consider. Best of all you don't have to bother converting transmissions.

I'm never selling this car unless I absolutely have too. OBD II doesn't bother me, and it would be nice to have a newer car with lower miles that I don't have to swap to a stick. Each has it's pros and cons but I'm leaning more towards swapping mine as it is a lot cheaper, and the sentimental value. Plus my car and I our the exact age which is kinda cool. -------------------- |

Sentimental value has a price. I hear you though. Secretly I really sold my Celica just to turn around and buy one that wasn't red. Shhh, don't tell anyone or they might think I'm one of them.
