that car has the wrong engine

Says "I blew the engine so i bought another jdm full swap off ebay" in the ad. Not sure how accurate that is though.

nope, needs a 2grfe!!! lol!!!

Only if you do the wiring and get it to work with the E154F. tongue.gif

Very common in the GT's. It's just the valve seals. I wouldn't replace the rings unless you just really want them replaced. smile.gif

Drained the ole whiney transaxle upon hearing some new noises of metal scraping and pronounced WHIIIIIIIIRRRRRRRR noises. The oil coming out looked a little milky but no chunks. I let it drain across a little rare-earth magnet and found nothing.
Then I took the magnet and just kind of waved it around in the top fill hole and all this fuzzy stuff jumped onto the magnet.

Filled it back up and drove it a while more. It was just kind of loud when there was a load on the transmission. But after another 40 miles it began to make some violent bang and clunk kind of noises. At this point I just pulled over and called the tow truck to take it straight to my friends shop.
Luck me there's a really nice one in the part out thread. smile.gif and after all I just saved my Mom $500 from not getting ripped off by that guy fixing my sisters car. ...unfortunately she won't see it that way.

My insurance expires on Dec 29th, and so I received a notice in the mail about a renewal, as well as the AirCare test that I need to get done (emissions).

When I insured my car for the first time last December, I was told about the AirCare program, but my car got a free 1yr pass due to it being bought used. I figured that hey, AirCare will be done and over with by the time I need to renew my insurance. Nope. I had to get the test done to cover my ass for 2 days!

Regardless, I went into a testing station, watched as the female struggled to drive the standard car to keep the revs on point with the computer system, only to have the male co-worker step in to complete the job. My car, being bone stock from it's creation (aside from air intake & wheels), passed with flying colours. I have a suspicion that my broken flex joint may have had something to do with the lower readings of the toxic fumes, but meh!

Also, I took my car into the insurance inspection site to get my claim/estimate. I was in the waiting room waiting for the receptionist to call me up to do any kind of paperwork that I thought needed to be done in this situation, all the while watching my car get inspected in the garage. Apparently I didn't have any paperwork to sign or anything, so I eventually walked out to the garage to enquire about what the man was taking all the pictures and opening my hood and taking pictures that were not related to my recent fender-bender. I was a little nervous since I have aftermarket HIDs installed, and JDM tails installed (non-DOT approved). Luckily after talking with the man, he was only taking pictures to cover their ass, as well as the repair shop's ass, if I were to claim any additional damage done to my car after the fact.

It was a win/win day for me on Monday with regards to insurance and carbon emissions.

Oh yes, also, after visiting the repair shop, I met the mechanic who will be working on repairing my car, and he said that he's going to pop out the palm-sized dent on the opposing fender for me despite it not being related to my fender bender. Bonus!

I've still got to get some parts for it such as engine mounts, timing belt/waterpump and other maintenance items. It's going to be a longer process but hopefully it will go well. I've also got a good amount of stuff I can sell off it, and make some of my money back.

I'm hopping it is. I also need to find out what sort of exhaust set up I want.

Today I ordered the timing belt, and valve cover gaskets.

Yeah I know but I'm debating if I want to go aftermarket or not.

Don't worry I won't. I'm so picky when it comes to exhaust sounds. Most aftermarket 4 cylinder exhausts don't sound door in my opinion. I really don't want to be that guy with the loud 4 cylinder that sounds like a fat man farting.

Went down and picked up my new transmission from a small local salvage yard. Said they rescued it from a GT that had been really nice looking but got wrecked in the back. Hopefully the synchronizers are in good shape.
I was going to buy the one KAOS has in his part-out. It's an S54 with only 27,000 miles on it, if I lived closer it'd be a super deal.

As long as you keep the cat and a resonator just about any muffler should be ok. I like to use baffled mufflers with four-cylinders and most six-cylinders, as they remove the harsher frequencies. The only thing I'll use straight through mufflers on is a V8, and even then certain V8's have a better sound with a baffled muffler. Right now the Firebird has the factory dual exhaust with some (likely blown out) glass-packs, and even though it sounds good it's ridiculously loud. So having to decide on what I want to do myself in that regard. MagnaFlow makes a good muffler for a fair price, and they have straight through, glass-pack, and baffled options. My brother has a MagnaFlow XL muffler on his Genesis Coupe 2.0T and it sounds pretty good for a four-cylinder.

Today I discovered that my cars engine coolant temp sensor was the cause of my car shutting off at idle, would start up fine in the morning then after running for a while would shut down and would start only after cooling down. Before this it wouldn't start at all and I took out the ecm and had to replace a burnt capacitor and repair an open trace on the pc board, everything is back to normal. yessss!
