My driver window is having problems going up and down. I took the door panel off and noticed that the window motor cable was starting to fray in certain spots. This leads me to believe that the cable is binding up in the motor as its pulling the window up/down. I'm trying to figure out if i can replace just the cable since the motor is fine or if I have to buy a new motor and regulator. I found a previous post on this issue, but with no solution. The only solution I have found is t buy a new regulator, but hoping I can just replace the cable. Help anyone?

You can just change the cable, but it's a real pain to install and since you'd need to buy a new regulator cable it'll cost you more than a recycled full regulator. Go to carpart.com and you'll find full regulators ready to install for around $50 bucks.
And do youself a favor, whatever you install get youself a can of white lithium grease and coat down the cable and you'll probably never have to look at it again. |

Thanks bro!! I appreciated it. I'll check out that site in a few. I'll grease the hell out of that cable. Probably would be a good idea to grease the passenger side as well. I did notice the fray spots were pretty dry compared to the sections that are fine. I guess one good thing about this happening to me is that it motivated me to put sound deadening wrap inside the door.
