This hole is for the side (accent) bulb that was required in Japan.

so, if i were to get those, I would either have to plug the whole with a grommet or find the sockets for the bulbs. Time to search!

just FYI, a 194 socket fits well with a bit of modding.

daytime running lights /side markers...my jdm headlights have them. I had to cut that hole out of my US headlights to fit stock bulb holder in there so I could have some sort of marker lights on the front

Accent light off, accent light on

Accent light on, low beam on

Side marker socket vs. Accent light socket

north american celicas have a side marker light, right behind the headlight on the wing, and the front indicator light usually has a dual filament bulb for markers or parking lights as they are called. Other areas of the world have a side repeater on the back of the wing near the door and a repeater in the bumper and the only front "marker" or "parking" lights are in the headlight housing
