Heh...never said it was great... just said its much better than 6th gens... very biased 6th gen owners seem to not want to acknowledge that.
They're better elsewhere also. "Elsewhere" the 7th gen GTS, called SS2 in Japan and Celica t-sport in the UK, are rated around 190 bhp... and the Beams 3sge (the vvti motor) is more fiction than fact. Many toyota enthusiasts doubt, along with myself, that the Beams 3sge can put out 190-200 bhp, as it's rated. They're actually closer to the mid 180s mark. Even still... vvti isn't what you think...and just because you mention it, I'll assume you don't know exactly what it does...
agreed... but it's far from the perfect car everyone here seems to play it as... I know why I like it...do you? What makes you think it's far better than a 7th gen GTS?
I guess you didn't read anything I wrote. To make it short and sweet... turbo is better than VVTi or VVTLi on the track...sure but depends in what car. I never said the GT-4 wasn't as good because it wasn't powerful. I said, it's not gonna win against a 7th gen GTS stock for stock in a track race, because it's nearly as well designed for such a thing. Kinda like, a tractor is never gonna beat a Saleen S7 in a drag race, cause it wasn't designed for such a task, however, you can drag race tractors... although the celicas are a closer match, and are not to that extreme. And if they were so good in rally, why'd they get pulled out by toyota and replaced by Corolla hatchbacks within a few years? Again, I'm not saying they weren't good (a 6th gen holds the pike's peak record as i recall), but I am saying, don't Immortalize somthing too much... when everything has obvious flaws.

I just want to tell some of you guys on here that have posted thank you.. you'll made me laugh... i need that... It just makes me wonder how many have really done what ya'll have said... i have an ST auto and gotten my ass handed to me buy a 7gc .. don't know if it was a 5spd or not...
for anyone one that has spend time on a race try will tell you HP isn't everything .. yes it is ever important... but if you just have HP and don't have a car made for that amount of HP your don't have shift.... they 7gc is a great car i have always liked it... looks and performace... if you don't like the looks of the car thats one thing...but if your going to knock the performence drive it for a few days in deffrent situations.. and please don't say "so and so i know has one and it's this or that... unless you have one and driver it everyday don't talk.. as for the engines on the car i will take a 2zzge or even 1zzfe over my 7afe simple it cause it's a much impoved engine... just like the 7afe is better then the 4afe... toyota impoves what they have... they don't make it wosre.. and as for torque less zz engine .. no vvti is not torque less don't get caught up with numbers on a paper... vvti gives you power when needed .... at low and high rpms.... it's gives you a nive even non jerking power at low rpm and snap your head back got to get the way out of the way of that truck at high rpms... just like v tec something honda took from the motorcycles and implanted them in to their cars.. -------------------- |
