I got a wrecked '96 coupe for $300 and a non-running hatch for $250. I don't regret buying either one. I'd jump on that car. If nothing else, you can part it out and make some money.

go through this checklist:

seats:
air bags:
trim:
carpet:
headliner:
shocks:
brakes/rotor:
rust on doors or wheel wells:
paint:
wire harness:


to repair rust/dents and paint will easily go over the whole price of the car.
