Everything went fine with my install except I noticed my car has 2 antenna cables that connected into the stock radio. The aftermarket HU I bought only has one connection. I have a very weak radio signal now. The 2 antenna plugs are different sizes and only one connected into the new HU. What's up with that and how do I fix my radio signal?

The original radio was designed to use both antennas, probably a fujitsu ten. The small core is for the rear glass line antenna and the larger is the standard. I replaced my fujitsu with a Panasonic with trim adjustment and have no issues. I couldn't find an aftermarket that would use both antennas and Panasonic customer service said it's an OEM custom design. As for poor reception from the standard core could be many things. Most better digital radios have an antenna trim screw to match your radio to the antenna, but it depends completely on the brand. You'll have to check your instructions to see if you have a trim screw and the setup to tune it. One thing for sure if yours only has a standard core input you can't use the glass line antenna. And don't be scammed by the so called audio y adapters that will convert both antennas to the standard it won't work. I tried it and the glass antenna interupted the main. Actually I had to get the small core away from the main as it was causing Interference. I insulated the end and zip tied it away from the radio and that did it. Other members may know of an aftermarket that will use both!
