Hey everyone,
My car got whacked a few months back and now its finally time to undo all the damage. Im getting a great deal on the body work and such but need to supply my own materials. I already have DUPONT NISON clear, hardener, and reducer. All that is needed is a quart of 3l2 renaissance red. All the dealers around here cant get it, and the store where I got everything else wants ~150 per quart. Does that sound reasonable to you guys? Any ideas as to where to get this stuff for less? What are some good name brands to be looking for? ( I dont want any cheap junk that will fade/peel/etc) in-fact, how can a differentiate between a quality brand of color vs a super cheapo? <-- I'm particularly interested in this one If a quality quart of this stuff really costs $150 then I dont have any qualms with pulling out my wallet. -please let me know *cough pressure2 cough* -Luke -------------------- |

IIRC when i bought jims paint it was ~75$ for a pint, which was also chromabase. i like it, it covers well, and is pretty easy to work with. for me, thats the most important thing, i dont want to use a paint that is super hard to work with, or that dont cover well, just makes for more problems than results. whatever amount of paint you buy, get the same amount of "basemaker" (reducer) its diffrent than the nason reducer, the chromabase basemaker is almost milky. IIRC it contains flex additives in it that the normal reducer does not. -------------------- Former Team 5SFTE pro member ;)

Its one thing to know the basics of painting but a completely different thing to know whats good or whats not. That comes with experience i guess yes I got my paint supplies in two pairs. the clear and hardener were nason while the color and reducer were chromabase. What do you mean by flex additives? flex as in the paint will resist cracking and splintering if there is another dent? -------------------- |
