has anyone done this? What are the gains I should expect? I tried searching for this, but the one problem with this website's search is that it splits the words. Thanks in advance though!

dont expect any gains. it wont add HP.
i removed mine just to make more room in the engine bay when i had the 5sfte.
the evap canisters job is basicly to remove built up vapors in the fuel tank,IIRC, so what i did was remove the canister, and capped the line that goes from the canister to the line on the firewall, and i cut a little slit into the cap i used so that exess pressure in the tank can vent.
i've read on mr2oc about guys doing the same, just drilling a hole in the gas cap instead to vent the pressure.

you can also simply relocate the canister to under the car nearer the fuel tank. removing it does nothing except vent unburned fuel into the air. evaporated fuel is a HUGE pollutant, worse than when its burned.
