If you have any input, or want me to try something, tell me
So I started a long time ago painting the interior pieces, and have had some lighting thoughts, that just made their way to be real Finished paint (have more ideas, but for now) Started today with the door handle LED (someone else's idea, but :)thanks) Anyone who wants to do it, make sure you test fit! I didnt and got everything back on and realized the hole i drilled was not placed right, so I had to take it all apart and fill in the whole The light (its not real dark out, will get better pics) Handle light, in the dark- Driver Passenger Changed the clock color (actually wanted red, but the red made it white? idk but I like it) Now for some of my own idea's (need to finish up tomorrow) I put in LED's in the "heat vents" I placed them in strategically where the actual light would not be seen, from where you sit, but it would reflect off the new white paint and glow inside the vent (phone pics do not do it justice) Inside the passengers side Inside the drivers side, mounted on top Dark- Drivers side (will get night pics) Dark Center- Dark Whole Picture- Whole Picture 2- NEWEST LED'S My cig lighter is out so its just a hole, as you can see by the first pic, so I put an LED inside, far into the back and the whole area glows, looks pretty cool Next pic is very hard to see but its where the E-Brake is, on the inside (not the button end) (will try to get a better pic,it lights up most of the E-Brake Handle which you cant see. All on a new switch (love the placement ) This post has been edited by mgnt232: May 17, 2010 - 8:24 PM -------------------- |

I just painted mine with Krylon paint for plastics (it works the best, can find it at walmart). I have never had anything chip, as long as you coat it a few times evenly it will be fine.
Of course I never ever do anything in my car that would cause it to chip, as long as your careful it will be fine Some people say clear coating it works to keep it in good shape, and I imagine sanding it and priming wouldn't hurt, but its cheapest to just grab a few cans of paint and its all good. oh and heads up, the passenger side heat vent=BITCH to take off, you need a few screwdrivers and I broke most of the clips, couldn't figure out how to actually take it off, but one clip is still enough to hold it. -------------------- |

YES YOU TOOK MY ADVICE FROM YOUR OTHER THREAD. lol sorry had to get that in there. The Krylon is a prepless paint fyi, sanding and priming isn't needed. Sanding would actually DECREASE the amount of paint that would stick because of all the dust created by sanded vinyl. Plus your interior will loose it's texture. Personally I think it's too red. I'll have mine done by the end of this summer, but I have some notes here I've got saved on my desktop... CODE Interior neons: In air vents (red?). Neon Wiring around hatch interior (red), around lines in door cards (maybe), in sunroof edging (red), speaker panels (front and rear/red), around center console (turquoise). Under rear seats, one in rear hatch near sub (pulse to sub?) Speaker neons wired to Streetglow music interface? (Pulsing neons a la Kia Soul) Interior replace: Keyring light to red, cigarette lighter to aqua (3mm led), window switches to aqua (3mm led). Reupholster rear bench to all black with red stitching. 12v lighter extenders to aqua (5mm LED x3) Switches: Exterior to existing neon switch, interior to new switch. Accents to new switch. Paint: Door Cups, Power control panel (not switches), maybe airbag panel (eye it, last item) Gauges: Black background, neon blue/"turquoise" lit font, medium blue unlit, red needles. Procarparts Black Reverse Gauges (Bookmarked) To date I've got done the gauges, the 12v extenders changed colors, neons in the front footwells (who hasn't done that one lol) the cig lighter changed to aqua, the clock to aqua, and the red keyring. I'll be using a lot of EL Wire this summer... -------------------- |

Good luck to everybody, and post up pics, when you do something like this, would like to see and get ideas ect. My next project is LED's in the headlight... sounds crazzzy but I will post up pics
And I dont know how much money is an issue but I wouldn't buy new pieces, just paint them, and if you dont like it, paint it back to black? Just a thought, hope to see some more interior mods -------------------- |
