When I start my Celica up cold, I get a whirring noise that sort of sounds like the short ram intake sucking up air (I love that sound biggrin.gif) But I know it's not it because it sounds slightly more metallic. The reason I think it's a pulley problem is because if I disregard it and drive normally, it goes away in about a mile. However, if I start my car and switch on the A/C right after, the noise goes away immediately. Could it be the bearing in one of the pulleys? I really can't be sure.

I suggest you take a mechanic's stethoscope and use it to listen to each accessory while running before you go replacing things. Cheap little tool that can save you hundreds down the line.
