Hope I got this in the right place, anyway a quick word of advice. Driving from NY into Va to visit my girl, I was pulled over by Virginia State Troopers, after 30 mins of 3 cops surrounding my car (measuring my front and rear ground clearance, window tint, exhaust, checking all my papers) I was stuck w/ 2 violations, improper exhaust, illegal window tint. I have 35% all the way around, 8% from the legal limit, and after telling the officer that I can place a baffle in the muffler, for silence, he refused, said it should've been on in the first place. Keep in mind I wasn't speeding, I was wearing a seat belt and obeying all traffic laws. After telling my father, who oddly enough is a police officer, informed me that Va. is having buget problems, and until January they'll be writing tickets left and right. The sad thing is they love to nail imports, I will be fighting both violations, the total for the tickets was 125 bones, but to make this short, a warning for anyone driving in va. try to stay hidden, their looking for any reason to give a ticket. and if at all possible avoid Va. all together!

redface.gif Thanks for the warning I live in VA! Better get yellow bulbs for my turn signals again I guess.....
Strange though... I actualy basicaly got let off by a cop last night I was going 60 in I think a 40.... some dude was in my blind spot I needed to be in the right lane so I sped up a bit to get over and he stayed in my blind spot... I then slowed down to get behind him.... and then he hit his siren really quick gave me a stern look and rode off... I take back all the things I said about all cops being assholes....

No....Atleast I didn't think you could. I have a friend who lives here in MD but registerd his car at his grand parents house in PA so he could limo tint everything including his front window.

The starnderds are set by state and have to be controled by state.

Im pretty sure once your in that state you have to abide by their laws, so I figure whatever isn't legal there they can write you up for.

I went to jail once for window tint.. it sucked.. when I first started to build my car no one around here had anything like it so I was gettin nailed left and right by cops... I had gotten so many window tint tickets that they finally took me to jail until I paid a portion of it off.. It sucked.

I ended up havein to pay 4200+ in tickets.. and then like two weeks later I blew up my motor... Still payin that loan for the tickets and that was a good 2-3 years ago

but no you cant get non moving violations in a state that you vehicle isnt registered in... you can still get parkin and speeding and moving violations but tint and crap like that no.. neons and other distraction type things though you might get a ticket for but usally they will just be like," cant do that in this state buddy" and let you off

Actually you can get a ticket for tint if you're registered out of state. Here a doc that can help.

Well... I'm pretty sure they could put a warrent out on you. It wouldn't really mean much, unless you ever got pulled over or detained by a cop for some reason. If that were to happen, you'd be in a world of crap.
