Hi all,
My A/C compressor is not staying on. I press the A/C button and I hear it click like it's engaging but it cuts on for a few seconds then the A/C button blinks. I installed a new A/C relay, condenser, evaporator, and compressor. I took it to a shop to have it changed and its holding pressure. I'm not sure what to try. Any thoughts by the group? Thanks |

On the passenger side, get on the floor and look up under the dash behind the glovebox. You'll see the blower motor and some connections around it, make sure everything is connected up there. Mine was doing the same thing when I first bought the car and the AC amplifier connector was disconnected which caused the button to blink.
Hard angle to get a picture from but here's the best I could take: This post has been edited by AMCMoe: Jun 29, 2010 - 4:07 PM |

I found it and it was connected but I might have a spare one on the Caldina clip. I will check when I get home.
I found one on ebay but it was sold. http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eBayISAP...RK%3AMEWNX%3AIT I took it to two shops and they told me the condenser and then evaporator. I called my dealer and they wanted $145 for the parrt/ Thank you for the help !! |

There is a switch on the compressor, you might want to check that as well.

ok some things to check to help me help you:
does ur ac compressor actually kick on? do the fans turn on at low speed when they do? does it stay on for a couple seconds, click off, and then blink the light? check the wire going to ur compressor, how many are there? i work for a toyota delership and most of the time when the light flashes the car is out of freon i know it sounds stupid. but check it there is a site glass on the dyer it is located behind the drivers side high beam follow the lines make sure the car is running and watch for bubbles if they apear it is low. if thats not it replace the magnetic clutch relay in the fuse box with one from the junk yard like 5 dollars and see what happens. also if it is out check the condensor for oil spots.

when i first got my celica mine did the same thing... light would blink after the ac was on for a minute or so. it ended up being something really simple... ac belt was slipping never heard any squealing or anything but after i changed the belt i havent had an ac problem since. by the way i found out belt was slipping by the battery light eventually coming on a few days later, i was actually still scratching my head on the ac problem, but after changing the belt the ac light stopped blinking and has worked well since.

I have the same problem with my car. After the swap the a/c light started blinking. I know its not the freon because I never disconnected any of the lines and the a/c compressor was always working before the swap....
EDIT: I checked that plug from the picture and there isn't anything connected to it so I guess I found my problem... Sorry for jacking the thread as well lol This post has been edited by erahman85: Jul 6, 2010 - 12:25 AM |

Another thing that will cause the light to flash is when the compressor gets wet, like from a puddle, and the belt slips momentarily. I've had that happen a couple times and just shut it off then on again and it was fine.

In my case the wires aren't going anywhere, not sure if it shows properly in the pics. -------------------- For Sale:OEM tail lights - make offer

How did those get cut?! The herbed should be laying underneath your glove box somewhere. That part of the wiring harness are part of the engine harness that comes through the firewall behind the glove box. They should be there somewhere.

Ac never worked didnt realize until it started getting too hot here. Usually I kept my windows down. Ill take he glovebox out and look around. Get better pics. If not would anybody have a wiring diagram or can someone take pics of that area if they have the dash apart?thanks in future -------------------- For Sale:OEM tail lights - make offer
