My parents just bought a pre-owned 2010 camry, and I took a look at the engine, which is a 2AR-FE, and it closely resembles the 7A-FE. Just one question came up in my mind. Would it be possible to swap this engine into a celica?

the wiring is where the nightmare begins, but is definately possible.

you " may " need custom mounts, bu the engine will definately fit into the bay.

I had the same thought with the wiring lol

I'm not looking to do it, but I just wanted to know if it would be possible.
I would love to see someone do it one day though, and post a thread on how to do it.

And then you have to figure out if your transmission, clutch/flywheel/pressure plate would work. Or use the transmission out of the camry and get custom axles.

Not worth it, in my opinion. As Culpable said, wiring will definitely be a nightmare. I'm sure the 2AR has all kinds of extra sensors that our cars never had. Tranny, that's another issue. But here's my problem with the engine: Cost. It's a much newer engine than anything we have. We buy our engines used at discounted prices, and yet it still takes $5,000 to swap a 3S-GTE into our cars. That's for a $2,000 engine. So how much will it cost to buy a 2AR then swap it into the car? You could virtually do an AWD conversion to your car for the same cost as the 2AR swap, then you'd have more power and a LOT more traction. That's assuming the 2AR swap could be done for under $10,000. Since it's never been done before. there's no telling how much it might cost. And here's the thing. You've spent all that time and all that money swapping it into your car and then you only have 169 hp. So... what's the point? The AR mounts might possibly work for ST guys that have an A series engine, or they might not. They would definitely be different for GT guys with S series engines. So the ST guys might find this swap to be more viable, but even then, they're better off just to swap a 4A-GE in and call it a day.

Yeah, that's definitely true. I personally would not even take the chance or spend the money and time on it.
