So lets talk fate. Had an interesting day yesterday. After being completely fed up with my celica, I decided to go to the loan center and pick up a loan. I ended up getting turned down because a check for $31 i sent to my cell phone company got lost in the mail 4 months back and the bill was sent to a collections agency. This Pi**ed me off completely, but also got me working on that damn car again last night. I really dont know what it is about this celica, but for some reason, Ill A:never get rid of it, and B:somehow trace back every important moment in my life over the past year and a half to this car. Let me back track
About a year and a half ago I traded my yamaha 600 motorcycle for my celica. Its a 94gt hatchback 5 spd. It had 195xxx miles on it. When I got it, it needed a clutch, and almost nothing else(or so i thought). I started doing the clutch in my girlfriends parents garage. Bad Idea. To make a long story....less long, me and her dad got into it and me and the girl broke up....Yes, over my car. Ended up finishing the clutch a few weeks later and drove off to college. Big Big headache. So then I started moving to the little things, bushings, wires, plugs, filters. All that good stuff. But for some reason, one thing would go wrong after the other. Didnt take away from the fact that i loved the car, but it was a pain in the A**. The most memorable were the plastic clip that attaches the wires to the alternator, which kept breaking, and the fact that I couldnt figure out why i was overheating. Anyway, i met a girl who lived 600 miles away, and loaded up the car with all new fluids and little things, and made the trip a few times in the car. Had about a million over heating and power loss issues, and little by little attacked them Well i broke up with that girl, and met a new girl. Well, just before Christmas, like an idiot, I put her in the car and attempted to impress her by going 125 on the hiighway on the way to a demo derby, and blew the engine(who couldnt see that coming). Anyway she wasnt impressed, and my car was dead. So since I had already done so much work to the car, I decided to pick up a JDM engine and throw it in. Didnt work out so hot. It took about a month to finish it. I did the timing belt, water pump, and all the rest of it. But because the emmisions was different, and like an idiot i picked up the same engine(scared of not passing emmisions with a 3s-gte, by the way, how does that work?) I had to use the new one as a long block. IT RAN LIKE AS*. All the connections were different, hoses, wire harness, everything, and I couldnt figure out what was wrong. Black smoke poured out of the exhaust, it idled way to high, and sometimes jumped up and down. I went from thinking sensors, and vaccume leaks, to timing and computer issues. My biggest fear was passing emmissions, which I knew I wasnt, and Im still late on it. Anyway, I drove the car around for about 3 months like that (mostly rode the harley) but couldnt figure out the car. I took it to 2 shops, and lost a bunch of money. Finally I brought it to another shop, and for $90 he switch a vaccume line i had crossed. fixed the problem!!!!! I was so happy. It started making a pinging noise however, and that scared me. So this brings me to last night! For some reason, over the past month, my ex and I got back together. (this is the first one) and she actually lives 1000 miles away during school. But shes home for the summer and shes only about 100 miles away now. The reason I wanted a new car so badly was because I wanted something that could make the trip. So last night, after getting turned down for my loan, I ripped the timing belt off and reset it. Took me about 5 minutes, Since ive done it a dozen times now, and BAM!!!! My car ran better than it ever has, Its like since Christmas ive been Fuc*ing with this car and finally got it running right. As of now i have new tires, shocks/struts, Clutch, Tranny, Engine with components, brakes, electrical is set, I put a custom headliner in, radiator, alternator, waterpump, timing belt, power steering pump, suspension components, and a bunch of other sh*t I cant remember. So how can i get a new car? Honestly, I cant. Too much work, too much history. So now what? Well, once i iron out all the mechanical issues(such as leaky power steering pump line, get an alignment, throw on another new timing belt, replace all hoses) Im moving onto cosmetic. Tonight Ill be making my short throw shifter, and starting to prep my front bumper for paint( I pretty much ruined it pushing it in a garage) Then Ill paint the bumper. Somehow replace the passenger side airbag cover, which is scratched and really pis*es me off for some reason, sanding and repainting my alloy rims, painting my callipers, getting my emmisions and finally put on the headers ive had sitting around for months, gettting an intake, and possibly replacing the seats, or reupholstering them. i want to undercoat my inner fenders and possibly get my a/c working again. I really love this car, and I think im pretty much stuck with it. Yesterday was a hell of a wake up call. I think im done rambling now. This story is definately too long |

Just read the whole bloody story.
You probbably spent more fixing that car up than the amount of buying a newer mint one haha. But seriously, good job at having one last go and getting it all going smoothly again. And like SwissFerdi said, cool story bro. |

i think we have the same celica lol except mine is a 96 vert, in the 4 months i have owned the car so far i have needed an ecu, fuel injectors, shift cables, all 4 wheel bearings, rear struts, water pump, oil pump, timing belt, idler pulley, harmonic balancer, lower timing cover, fuel filter, air filter, egr valve, and now the clutch is starting to slip so guess whats next. problem is i dont own mine yet still have 2 years of payments to go but god damn i love the way this car drives if i can ever get a break in the repairs and get some money put aside a turbo is going in to solve its only real problem (lack of hp)
