Hi guys,

Little update on one of the projects in the shop, this is a 6th Gen that's had a 3SGTE bolted into it for a few years now, because of various issues the owner wasn't able to find someone to get it finished, until it ended up here.

What it looked like when it showed up:

Cleaning process....

We checked the timing belt and found both cams to be a tooth off, so we had to redo that.

Cleaned up the wiring harness...

Details: Fuel filter rotated so that the banjo to AN adapter can make use of the stop on the filter when tightening the bolt. Wiring harness secured with cushion clamps where needed.

Details: Stainless line covered with glue-lined heatshrink where it gets close to the wiring harness. This will prevent any chance of the stainless braiding wearing away at the loom.

True cold air intake

Stainless line where it connects to the rail.

Coil/igniter relocated off the firewall to clean things up. Also relocated the MAP sensor off the firewall and hid the resistor pack out of view.

True cold air intake, note that factory cruise control has been retained, with plenty of clearance between the bracket and the intake piping.

Another view of the cold air intake location.

Overall view. Engine is waiting on a new fuel pressure regulator and injector clean/balance/flow test before starting.

good job, not having the coil map etc on the firewall clears things up.

what you going to do as far as feeding air to the tmic goes?

Thanks guys. As for the intercooler I'm still hoping the owner will spring for a front mount setup.

Thanks for your kind comments. After giving the fuel problem some more thought I was suspicious about the fuel pump installation. We pulled it out and found this:

Looks like they used a piece of heater hose for the fuel line. For those that don't know, fuel and oil will eat right through a heater hose. So the pump was pushing a little bit of fuel up to the rail but not enough to open the regulator. We redid the fuel pump install...

And then after resuscitating the injectors, it started up on the first try smile.gif

Owner doesn't have fund for any more work on the car for now, so with the engine finally running and the car able to drive, he's taking it home until he can save up for front mount, exhaust, etc.
