i doubt the next supra will have an I6 engine. while the I6 is a sporty engine layout that would mean a long sloping hood and RWD setup like in all previous supras, v6s are more commonly used nowadays. the efficiency is not the biggest factor but it's the weight (V6 < I6) and engine placement for balance and better handling. boxer or flat engines follow the same sort of principle and offers lower center of gravity for better handling which you see in many subarus and porsches.

Dude, seriously..... I had a dream that one of Toyotas "Sports Cars" was present before me. I popped the hood and seen a 2GRTFE motor. Yes, a twin turboed 2GR-FE... I dunno why, but it was just a strange dream. Doubt that engine will still be around for any future Supra though, by that time there will be something else. Probably another G engine though.... 4GR-FE, since they like it enough to put it in almost every dang car between the Toyota and Lexus line.

Toyota has re-trademarked "Supra". You might even see the FT-86 be badged as a Supra...

That would make me sad.

...but I'd probably still want to buy it.

Celica is also trademarked from a quick search in the UK and on the State side system http://tess2.uspto.gov/
