It's because the motor have more pulley to turn, so It need more revolution to support the extra job. Test this; run normaly with your car for 1 week without AC, and 1 week with AC; you should see a difference in fuel consommation.

I think that your car is supposed to idle to 8000 rpm. But i'm not sure

Generally your car runs lower with the A/C on... your car doesnt increase revs to compensate on its own.

mine does, as with my 93 protege and my mom's 525i

vacuum also drops on my car a bit if the AC is on.

Mine is automatic so it idles at less than 600 because of the S-AFC...it hurts me seeing her do that, though... frown.gif

Good indication that you have a vacuum leak if ur cars idling that high. Turning more belts and having more electronics causes the car to use more power.

my vacuum holds at 20mm hg(i think those are the units on my gauge) when at idle(in or out of gear) and runs at 650-660rpm

im very certain that i dont have a vacuum/boost leak anywhere in the sytem

oobe,

what settings do you have to make ur idle rpm so low? i have an auto as well and my low throttle curve is -10% all through the rpm range

Diddo, same here.

Edit: not 2000 when cold, more like 500-600rpm

I don't know, man, I can't remember, all I know is that the engine was idling so low I couldn't hear it and it was a cunt hair away from dying....plus I think I installed the S-AFC incorrectly. It works fine and changing the graphs had an effect on the engine, but I think I missed something. I had a hard time translating the pinouts and the diagrams from the manual because there was no 7A-FE, only 4A-FE but it looked exactly like the 7A-FE. I used the t-5b diagram. Which one did you use? I checked Speedtoe's instructions and I don't recall installing it like he's saying, But his instructions are for manual trany...but it shouldn't be any different, right? Anyway, let me know which diagram you used, because you guys have ran better than me...I didn't even enjoy boosting because in less than 4 seconds, the EGT skyrocketed to 1,300-1,400 degrees. frown.gif

auto and manual ecu's are the same, the wiring in the connectors that is.

my celica is a 97 so the ecu wiring is different but i decifered it from my chiltons manual(what a crappy book)

there was no diagram for my year, there is one that is close, but i think one of the wires was wrong.
