Congratz and welcome 2 the club. So as in stock theres absolutely nothing done to it? Depending on your mechanical abilities there is lots you can do.. Maybe start off with the basics, pod filter/cold air intake, exhaust (if ur that way inclined) service the heck outta her if it hasnt been done recently

Hey there, Welcome. It's great to see you so enthuiastic about your celi, but I think you, yourself need to think about what you want for your car. I mean i can tell you how i'd like to build a celica but that would just be like me building a car for me, not for you.

Take some time to look around the fourm. Are you planning to go for looks(bodykits, neon lights, stickers, etc) or are you gonna go for power (engine, performance, turbo). look around and see what interets you the most.

For now, what i'd do is just intake, header, and a nice exhaust for performance. Maybe drop is on some springs and add some rims. For body, I wouldn't do too much to it. OEM/JDM parts seems best in my opinion. But if your into flashy bodykits then you can go all out too.

Take your time and welcome! smile.gif

I would say don't spend money on silly things until you know that the important aspects of the car are okay:tires, brakes, timing belt/water pump if it has some miles racked up, axles, etc. While you are making sure the car is up to snuff, you can think about what aftermarket modifications to do.

First, Welcome! smile.gif hope your stay is long
Completely agreed! If it is your first real fix and make nice car i would check and make sure everything is good as far as obvious things. Body in good shape brake lines are not about to burst, compression, change the oil, clutch, ect.

As far as projects, that more so up to you, or at least give us a more narrow idea of how of what you are looking to do, exterior, performance, suspension, ect.
And do some search (even use the parts data base) to find more your style and price options.
IMO after making sure she is running right, get your self a kit. whether it be splitters, lips, or a more aggressive kit like mine. and a CAI, and exhaust.
There are endless ideas you can come up with (trust me) smile.gif

thanks for all the input guys, as far as i know everything is 100% stock. it needs a little bit of body work, but nothing terrible and then its just tuning up and out haha, ill deff post some pics asap, gotta say im so pumped to find a site with so much information and so many knowledgeable and kind people.. as for an idea of where im going with the car, i know i must do all the brakes, (including hand brake wich at the moment does NOTHING) and fix a few spots that have varying degrees of rust... after that so far i really want to focus mainly on performance, and power,... in my opinion the celica is a very nice looking sleeper, and i love the way the body looks... i want to make it as powerful and fun as possible... and random tidbits..

150k miles
P1AA fog lights wiring set up wired when bought but no actual lights,
ABS lights on but brakes work fine and handbrake does nothing
Drivers side door has rot across the bottom
rear passenger wheel well small rot
and finally exhaust was broken in 3 places when bought, right before muffler and right after cat, fixed part by muffler so far.

(got it for $1000 running great at a helping hands of America)

yes definitely fix all the obvious things first smile.gif
And not knowing from experience, but assume its the same idea, from the ST, performance wise. There isnt much you can do to really get "alot" more HP, short of turboing, which you would have to be prepared to spend alot to do it correctly (if not you wont get the power gains wanted, and many risks involved.
I mean dont get me wrong, you can get an intake and exhaust, ect. But no "super high" gains. Save up for a swap smile.gif
but good luck in anything you do biggrin.gif
