Driver side grinds and makes me whince!!
Next Thursday it's going in for brake work. So if the caliper needs replaced, New or Used?? I replaced the pads & rotors about a yaer ago, and started making noise 2 weeks ago. Thanks for any input!! No, I don't have what it takes to rebuild it myself. I am driving the " other " car til she's fixed. |

Rebuilt can be alot cheaper, so if its done right it'll be as good as buying a new one. Although just cause you get a new one. its not 100% that it is good either (real slim chance that its bad, but it does happen). Rebuilding a caliper is easier than you think though.

AAAGGGHHH the grinding is nervewrecking!!
The rotor is worn out, so I'm hoping to just end up replacing it & the pads!! |

The rebuild really isn't that hard, and it can be done for cheap. But I say if you buy it from a reputable place, a rebuilt caliper wouldn't be bad at all. Just buy from somewhere with a warranty.

I have a set of rotors from my car cuz i put some dimpled and slotted ones on there. You can have them cheap they are in good shape and might save you some $ in the long run

Careful,
Based on my experience, taht grind can be due to a broken axel shaft, or due to bad wheel bearing. |
