I need your opinions. Here is a list of the cylinder head work I am currently having done to my car as well as having the bottom end rebuilt with forged pistons, connecting rods, and the whole shibang.

Pocket Port
Competition Port & Polish
Deshrouded & Polished Combustion Chambers
Back-Cut Valves
Radiused Blend Seats
Competition Three-Angle Valve Job
Hand-lapped & Vacuum-Tested Valve Seats
Cylinder Head Deburred & Blueprinted
Combustion Chambers C.C.'d
Detailed Matched Intake Manifold Fully Ported to Head
Matched Throttle Body
Match Port Exhaust Manifolds
Port Faces Lapped Flat
Decks Milled & Lapped
Combustion Chambers Welded & Reshaped (clover-leaf pent-roof design)
Intake Valves Lightened
Rocker Arms Lightened
Fully Balanced & Blueprinted
Valve Spring Shims

Now what I want to know is what turbo you guys would suggest for between 400- 550 horses at 2 bar of boost. Also an fmic

thanks
Chris

confused.gif on a 5sfe or even a 7afe your still dreaming for that amount of HP, sorry all that work aside your not gonna reach 500hp in either of our engines.......least no longer than 5minutes before your pistons fly through the hood.

no, no hes not dreaming

ok buddy, the only problems with your plan is the HEAD

i know your doing a lot of work to it but if you want more than ~300 hp without really high boost(ie a more efficient setup) go for a headswap.

get a 2nd or 3rd gen 3sgte head on the block and you will get great power with the bottom end your building

mr2 guys do it with their 5sfe all the time. they make like 350-400hp on stock 5sfe internals!!!

same engien in the celica.

Stroker kit. I think you can get one for 2.4l.

If I were you, all that money you just sunk into a FE head would have been more than enough reason to have a GE head put on there. Well you did it anyway...were past that now.

Get ARP to make you any and all bolts you need.
8.5:1 comp (Most likely lower) will be a must for that much.
Metal head gasket
Get a BIG MR2 turbo kit....BIG biggrin.gif
3" exhaust
Full stand alone EMS (You will never see more than 300hp with out it)
720cc injectors (more injectors may be needed)
Big A$$ intercooler
Better rad.
TRD thermostat
Hella strong clutch
Fidenza flywheel
TRD LSD

I would get CP pistons and pauter rods but you can get which ever you feel is better.

I dont see the 5sfe holding up with anything less than neer perfect tuning and all of the bast safty equipment ect. gauges, TT, boost controler.........

Good luck with this and I wish you the best of luck.

Its all totally possible if you engineer the package right. What you're going to have to realize is that you absolutely will not be able to make that much power on pump gas. Not a chance. Anything above 12psi or so on a moderate compression motor is pushing it on pump gas. 2bar aint gonna happen on anything short of 114octane.

I think with all the head work you're doing a head swap will not be necessary. The valve angles will not be optimal, but everything else you're doing will help compensate for it.

My turbo suggestion would be a Garret GT30. It will easily flow enough for 500hp at 28psi-30 psi. If you plan on running pump gas and want to be realistic smile.gif, then I'd go with a GT25 and expect about 340hp. I'm basing all this on the turbo size calculator software available from Roy Hall Turbos in Austrailia.

Theu havent actually started the work yet but they have the block. You think using the head from the 3sgte would be a better option? Is the head from the 3sge the same or are there improvements on the 3sgte head?

If your going turbo use the gTe and if your going N/A use the ge. The cams are different for the 2.

You could also do all the head work on that head for more (Not a hell of alot) gains than what you would see from the fe head.

Ferra also can make ss valves and springs for both the fe and gte/ge heads.

Id also get new cams for either. HKS for the ge/gte's or web cam regrinds for the fe.
