What gen 3s??
Any other gens besides the gen 3 you will need to take the wiring part of the engine sensors on the 3sgte engine and incorporate that into the chassis wiring from the 5s. -------------------- 98 Celica gt red- totaled deer
94 Celica st black DD (bad weather beater)- totaled deer 95 Celica gt silver- chassis sold 88 Celica All-Trac (Burned to a crisp) 94 Celica gt white (sold) In need of a rust free chassis!!!! |

No, you would still need to some wiring on the clutch start sequence, fuel pump, and intercooler. After that...either cut a new hole, or extend the harness as you had mentioned.

I think we need a 3rd gen swap sticky so these questions won't be repeated as much..
To do list for a 3rd gen swap after you got the motor (not in any order): - check the how to on doing and 2nd gen 3sgte swap (defgeph) http://www.6gc.net/forums/index.php?showtopic=28825 - Maintenance. check what sensors, hoses, parts, and etc that needs to be replaced. - make sure you have the wiring done( clutch start sequence, relays for fuel pump, IC pump, and IC) - extend the wiring harness or drill a hole in the firewall so it can reach the ECU - mount heat exchanger, IC pump - install custom exhaust - make sure all hoses are plugged in - check for vacuum leaksl - make sure map sensor is connected - check to make sure black ground wire is connected to exhaust manifold Do these things before you post questions.. it will go a long way ![]() -------------------- THIS IS WHERE WE HOLD THEM!

Thanks for the replies for clutch start sequence, fuel pump intercooler ic pump what wiring is need ? Thanks Thats the stuff you need to rewire to make the car work. You can do those things with the engine in the car and pretty much put it last on the todo list. However youll notice that the jdm harness enters through the firewall on the opposite side as it should on your usdm car. To fix this you dont have to extend the whole harness. You can do one of 2 things: 1. cut a new hole in the bottom center of your firewall so that the wiring will reach directly to the ecu, or 2: unwrap the entire harness and "flip" the part of the harness so that it reaches to your existing hole. After you flip it, youll only have to extend a few wires to things like the igniter. If youre good with wiring, then pick option 2 and you'll end up with a cleaner install, but if you want a quick and simple way, then just cut a new hole. -------------------- 15PSI - 30MPG - Megasquirt Tuned

sorry to threadjack but,
I noticed some engine sets come with uncut harnesses and some are cut. Is the cut harness garbage or if I sent it to Dr. Tweak with my 5sfe harness would he be able to make it work? |

So when ur talk re-wirin to make thing's work and I can do when the motor is inn what is it that need to be done? I am not big on cutting holes in car so extending is a good I'm not sure what you're asking. What needs to be done when the engine is in the car is the wiring which is the clutch start.. etc.. things we have told you before. If you're wondering how to do these things check other threads. Clutch start sequence check this thread: http://www.6gc.net/forums/index.php?showtopic=55058 Theres a helpful how to and a picture that shows what needs to be done Fuel pump, IC and IC pump wiring check my thread: http://www.6gc.net/forums/index.php?showtopic=66773 There fuel pump, IC, and IC pump wiring diagrams are there. Another thing, get your hands on a 3rd gen ST205 engine manual, as well as body and chassis manual. -------------------- THIS IS WHERE WE HOLD THEM!

Are you sure it will be long enough after unwraping it ? -------------------- - Celica ST202 w/ JDM 3S-GE 180HP (Special LE Subaru Blue steel paint!)

Ok, so I guess you confirmed that the wires HAS to be extended in order to get it work.
Thanks, your swap thread really helped me with the wires... to bad it is so such hard and boring work with the wires ![]() -------------------- - Celica ST202 w/ JDM 3S-GE 180HP (Special LE Subaru Blue steel paint!)
