I currently have my motor torn down, the number 2 cylinder looks pretty horrid.... Looking at the money aspect would it be cheaper to find a used block that just needs to be honed, or to have the one I have bored and get over sized pistons?... Not looking at the money aspect which would be the better option?

if money is not an issue, i highly suggest overboring .020. how bad is the cylinder? toyota does have oversized pistons, so if you want to repair the one cylinder you can. but for best results, do all 4.

I'm not sure how bad it is its just some scuffing.

Sorry i dont know who makes 7A forged pistons. I have have some made from Diamond. i have a good relationship with them. i use them when i build high HP 2ZZ-GE engines.

if you just ahve some scuffing, then just get it re-honed. you should be just fine. then defiantly just get the oversized piston from toyota and ring set. not worth doing all 4

drag your fingernail along the scratches, it really doesnt look that bad. a good hone job might clean all that up. if your fingernail catches the scratch it might be too deep for a hone and you need to bore it.

importperformanceparts.net can get u a set of pistons for the 7afe ... forged with any compression and size up to 82.5mm . stock is 81.0 mm. check them out on price as i dont know how much it would cost but i have the HP engine kit with forged pistons and all... which cost me just over 1000.00 .. on there website if u look they offer just a rod and piston combo, if u all ready have everything else to rebuild it may be a good choice if u want stronger internals ..

I honed it some more and it finally smoothed out... I just have to finish my head now and I'm done.
