I don't trust scissor jacks or those crappy 65 dollar harbor freight hydraulic lightweight things. I use lifts at school, and when I am home I ALWAYS use at least one jackstand when I jack up a car. Remember you get what you pay for!

lol ive used my scissor jack for years lol, but i do use jack stands as well. I needed to use the scissor jacks for replacing the k-frame because the hydrolic jack doesnt fit and I only have one, and couldnt put a jack stand on my frame..because, well because i was taking it out lol. but i had a stand on each side
yeah most people including my self dont have access to a lift -------------------- |

I mainly use a hydraulic jack, but its friggan huge! When ever I jack it up I always put stands underneath. My neighbor will let me borrow his house stands that he has, they can hold 20000 lbs each lol so it's no problem at all leaving the car on those for a day or two haha

Wow^^ Thats VERY unsafe,i never get under my car unless i have at least 2 jack stands under it, id rather not be stuck under my car and dieing slowly... I personally have been witness to 3 scissor jacks failing, one was because it was at and angle and it bent and snapped the arm,the other 2 the jack physically just broke(we came out int he morning to fin the car sitting on the ground) edit: New Orleans mind telling us how much those set u back? Well between both of em, quite alot lol.(over 1000 for em together) but they run off of a battery and not a cig liter plug. just to give u an idea im restoring a 76 trans am and have frame off everything apart and only used the electric impacts. Now only if i had an electric ratchet haha. i can vouch for the electric impact. I have two. one 1/2 inch and another 1/4 inch.(snapon) They work wonders!!!! wtf a electric running off the cigarette lighter? All that stuff is garbage. The only time i would use a jack that small is to support and engine while i change a motor mount. I would not want a small jack to hold up an entire car. When you have such a small jack lifting up a car to the highest settings can cause the jack to tip over. The bigger the jack the more and safer it can lift something heavy. I own and use electric wrenches all the time. Its much faster to plug in an electric wrench then to wait for my big air compresses to fill up with air. I do however have a expensive Bosch electric wrench. You guys have pretty much clarified the difference on the electric impact. A name brand one will be pretty good, but that piece of junk sold with the jack won't do much other than turn some screws. just to clarify. mine do NOT plug into a cig liter. they have a rechargeable battery that plugs into the bottom of it -------------------- |
