I was looking into some weisco pistons and I was wondering whats the difference between 79.5mm 82mm and 82.5 mm. Would there need to be any boreing out of the engine to make the bigger pistons fit? and are there really big power gains because of increasing the piston size. Any help in understanding this is much appreciated.

other than the size, theres no difference. and es you will need to get the block bored for the exact size pistons you put in.. otherwise they wont fit(pistons bigger than hole)...or they wont seal and the motor wont run(hole bigger than piston)

so whats the reason behind making bigger pistons for the same engine? im guessing maybe when you rebuild the engine they bore it out a little and you need bigger pistons or am i wrong?

if the cyl walls get too scratched/damaged they need to bore it out untill its a smooth finish

you will get a slight gain with the higher displacement, but the big gains are when you boost it.
