I would like to know as much as possible about 6th gen celicas as I am likely purchasing one (will be a GT or a 5th gen all-trac if im lucky but i'd rather have a 6th gen GT to become my frankenstien.) I would like to know there pros and cons and great things to do to these cars. I already know quite a bit but would like to know more. I drive a 95 Mitsubishi 3000gt vr4 and a 95 Mitsubishi 3000gt sl and i am converting over to toyota. (hopefully will have a mk1v in the future.) so please help me out with the wonders of the 6th gen celica. :-)

well, the single factor that really got me liking celicas was their rally heritage. I'd always been a fan of the wrc (which absolutely sucks now btw) so when I discovered the celica was a prominent player back in the heydey of rally racing I was sold. So go on youtube and look up some original footage of gt4's absolutely tearing it up on some of the harshest terrain imaginable. After that I promise you'll see what we all see and it will be a good starting point in learning what celicas are about and what they are capable of in the right hands. Good choice moving away from those vr4's, I hear those things are a nightmare to work on!

(i wish i never got rid of the mustang. only reason i left it was because it wasn't good with snow.) -------------------- |

There are plenty of 3000gt's for sale.....lets take a look locally via CL. 16 on page 1. So why wait, go and get one then!
As far as what you can do, everyone said it well enough, look around. But in the long run its going to depend on how deep your pockets are and how much time you want to put towards it. If thats what you are going for. Myself, I love my Celica. Sure she isnt fastest or the best handling, but in terms of "rarity" (being that I only see a few here and there) its something else. I get compliments all the time, even though I dont feel they are deserved (still got a lot of work to do). But Ive had nothing but fun with this vehicle, and I think its mostly in part to a lot of the contributing members on this site. So if you want to get a Celica and join this one of a kind family (as dysfunctional as it may be sometimes) you'd be welcome! |

FWD Celica's are good in the snow they aren't that low in standard format the lower power and the FWD make it more practical then a RWD big power mustang in snow, found this last year when over taking all the BMW's/Audi's/Merc's stuck wheel spinning trying to get up a 5 degree incline in snow -------------------- |

yeah my celi is amazing in the snow! as long as you have decent tires, one of the big points of interest because it snows alot where i live Also very good on gas
Also Just so you do know legend, the 6th gens are not the fastest cars, they look fast lol. They do have a little power and are good little sporty cars though. And the options for them are incredible! And the option for this 6gc community is amazing, because they are becoming more and more rare, its a very "tightly nit" community with amazing help, and info And the rarity of the car is rlly cool, no one around me has one (that they care for anyhow, ive seen one real beat up one around). Keep a 6gc from death and buy . I saved mine from a tragic junkyard run GL! hope you come across one -------------------- |

why would you switch from that 3000gt to celicas, i love my celica but i like the 3000gts i went from a mr2 turbo to 2000 celica gts to is300 and then finally my 6th gen if you could find a clean 5th gen alltrac, go for it. otherwise a 6th gen celica is good too. -------------------- |

why would you switch from that 3000gt to celicas, i love my celica but i like the 3000gts The 6th gen Celica has been my favorite car aside from the supra since I was a kid. I love my VR4 and SL and mitsubishi cars for that matter but nothing beats a childhood dream car. I never drooled over a porsche or a lambo or even a ferrari like a lot of people do in their younger days. I actually lost sight of the 6th gen celica but I saw one last week and it just triggered the love I had for the 6th gen and I feel I am ready to own one so I want to know what all the celica carries with it so I know just what to do when I'm working with it. I will most likely sell my SL to add to a celica when I get one. |
