My friend's car, a '94 ST, broke down today. It will start, and immediately run really rough, and it's leaking oil. A lot. I only ran it for a few seconds just to see what was wrong. I was in a hurry and on the side of a highway so I didn't get to see exactly where it was leaking. Any ideas?

What were the symptoms of the break-down....did it die while cruising, while idling, while accelerating, while braking, etc.? Did it randomly start spouting oil, or overheat, or anything else?

The car was cruising on the highway, but I didn't get any oil pressures or temps. I checked the radiator and everything is fine there. The leak was roughly in the vicinity of the oil filter and AC compressor on the passenger side of the lower end engine block. Sorry, I'm not too familiar with this engine and I only looked at it for a minute. I was trying to find out if it needed towed (yes). I'll get some pictures and more information up tomorrow.

I agree. Most likely, a rod or a bearing. If and when the oil is low and the crank is spinning, it's not a good sign. Did he ever say anything about loss of power? Also a knock from the bottom end would indicate so.
