Yesterday, though it was Easter, I got a lot done with the help of my dad! We started off by looking over the engine and making sure everything was properly connected, and tightened a few things up. After that, we got both of the axles on which was pretty easy. The PS side hub was wiggly before the axle was on, but now that it's on a tight, it's perfectly fine. I'm still going to put my old hub back on once I get the axle off of it. After that, I connected the bracket for the exhaust near the rear mount and put the heat shield on. In the process of that, I painted my strut bar to match the engine and I think it will all look good once my car is all black again. I began to run the wires for the foglights and underglow bar in the front end. The interior is getting assmbled today and same as the exterior. The hardest thing I'm going to have to do is replace the ebrake cables and get the ebrakes adjusted right because I hate trying to do it.

good news, the engine started.
bad news, it smokes by the exhaust manifold (could just be the paint though) and it has a creaking noise coming from the back side of it... edit: smoke is the fresh paint on it and the creaking sound was the power steering because I forgot to add more fluid after I started the car This post has been edited by mkernz22: Apr 25, 2011 - 5:18 PM |

here's the night time update:
so far, the car runs. there is a coolant leak from one of the lines off the waterneck piece or whatever it is. second, my buddy drove the car down and up my driveway and said that the gas petal become limp after pushing down so far. thirdly, none of my rear lights nor my side markers light up. the head lights and driving lights in the turns do, but nothing else. my rear flashers dont even work, probably a simple wiring problem though. lastly, I'm just getting sick of problems. oh yeah, and the rpms and speedo dont work. first thing with electricity, check power and ground for all the cicuits. next check your protection(fuses), and then work your way to the rest of it. i hope you get it all to work out gl.

I'm at school right now, but I think I might have taken some of the fuses out of the fusebox that's in there now lol
when my car was still an auto, I needed some fuses for my fusebox and I believe I took them off the fusebox that was in the parts car, and that is now in my car now haha |

well it wasn't the fuses, there was an interior wiring plug going to the rear that was hidden behind the main wiring panel on the driver's side, and guess what it was for, the rear lights! and the tach didn't work because the fuse was blown for it lmao
I fixed the coolant leak, just have to put a screw clamp on one hose (for safety) and that'll be that. The lower rad hose start leaking today so I bought a new one and some clamps and it is fine now. Just have to assemble the interior and get the harness bar and seats in tomorrow, finish up some wiring, and that should be it for now and i went for a nice long drive today, and i love driving stick shift! oh yeah, and a big bird to everyone who said the stage 2 was "too much" for a stock engine and a beginner! This Sunday, I'll be dropping my car off at Maaco in New Bedford for Manny to paint! I can't waiitttt! It'll finally be one color again after almost a year.

well i got an oil change and i guess my engine is leaking oil prettyy bad near the timing belt. Any one have a guess as to what it could be? I'm thinking the oil pump..

i had the same problem whit my 5sfe
i changed my cover valve, pull out the timing belt change the seal behind timing belt and the leak was the same might be the seal of oil pump if u clean the leak, and start ur car, u will see where the leak comes from, u need to took out the plastic inmside the front wheel passenger to see the oil pan and u will see the leak come from back there Oil pump seal, they become loose in the housing and leak around the outside of the seal. Fit the new seal with Loctite or similar, requires removing timg belt cover and loosening the timing belt. |

Actually, I'm not leaking any oil (maybe just a tad, but barely anything). After I went out today and came back, my dad showed me some fluid that was leaking on the ground. At first he thought it was oil, and so did I, but after I put some on my finger and took some power steering fluid out of the bottle, I found out what the leak was. Power Steering fluid. I'm glad it's not oil lmao that would be horrrrriibbbbllleeeee! I think I just need a new crush washer on the pump. No biggy though.

All old cars have oil leaks, just a matter of topping up more often, that leak in the pictures looks awfully familiar haha.
