must have been a complete nutz....but what mods are needed for the axles east? can you explain if any is needed to mod or are the axles off st215 perfect fit? or are there any interchangeable axles among the toyota family for the tranny...well i guess it all depends on the tranny. what would you recommend?

lol its ok bro, no changes are necessary for the st215 swap. that motor is bascially the same as the other gens. other minor differences will need modification (ex: cams) but axles can be used from a GT celica and the trans from a V6 solara,Turbo MR2 or the most common, a camry (s54)

i have some pics (i think?) of the axles going in, they are the same will go in without any more trouble than normal.

i serioiusly doubt the axles from a caldina will fit (because is an all wheel drive car)

you ONLY need the mr2 inners, and alltrac outters if your using the E153.

the S54 uses the stock axles.

as far as the parts are concerned, i neglected to be specific (thanx chacha biggrin.gif )

as reccommended change the parts mentioned before, but to make it easier, here are the part numbers of the things that will fit on the 4 gen, when refreshing your motor

i dont have the part numbers of the rear main seal ($26.26) and front (crank) main seal ($10.00) off hand but they ARE the same as the other gens, and can be found in the parts thread made by our good buddy lagos! biggrin.gif
(remember to call coniceli toyota and have part numbers, not a clusterfcuk like i gave lagos lolz)

Cam seal-903111-35022-14.90

timing belt-13568-79045 $26.49 BE CAREFUL.... this timing belt is likely from a 2nd gen (usdm) will be off by 1 tooth

thermostat-- apparently the 4th gen thermostat is slightly larger so tweak informed me that one can use a thermostat from a 4 runner 98-2000s iirc.

H20 pump-16100-79127 (GEN II) 16100-79127-$102

H20 pump (Gen III) 16100-79126

NOTE: These two parts are off by one number, but i believe they are the same

all of your accessory (aka V belts) are the same as the other gens.

Idler pulleys 13505-88383-$88.42
13503-63011-$41.69

sorry if this is a bit thrown together, i just wanted to get the info out there before i went to work, any questions shoot!

EDIT:
from what i understand the head gaskets are the same as well. im 99.9% certain of it

Thought i would update this thread, i totally forgot to add information about the RODS of the 4th gen engine. the rods in the 4th gen are DEFINATELY THE WEAK POINT OF THIS ENGINE. In my attempt to correct this problem, i got some REALLY good info about 4thgen versus 3rd gen rods frown.gif

thanks guys!

We actually used ST165 outters, and they work as well.

i have some pics (i think?) of the axles going in, they are the same will go in without any more trouble than normal.

i serioiusly doubt the axles from a caldina will fit (because is an all wheel drive car)

was also intrested in this swap can you elaborate on the minor differences(ex: cams) that needed modifications for your swap?

hey bro, the differences are minor, the cams on a fourth gen have a notch on the end where it fits into a slot for somthing... i cant remember at the time.... also the rods are from a beams motor and are skinnier than the other generations. he motor is a high compression which means quick spool, but be careful with boost. not much needs to be modified to be honest with you if youre doing a basic swap. its just about the same as other gens in this aspect. it has no spark plug wires, and puts out a bit more hp than the 3rd gen, and is a newer motor, but to be honest, if you want high horsepower get a 3rd gen

thanks for the info. yeah seems the 4th gen is a little better option for me as i'm looking for an alternate replacement option rather than a platform to mod. and they can be sources much more cheaply
