you honestly don't need the liner under your hood, it actually keeps the heat in. I took mine off and noticed a slight drop in the running temperature. The main reason for it was if your engine caught fire for whatever reason, the clips would melt and then the insulation would cover the fire thus putting it out.

I was worried cause my engine runs extremely hot. Is that something common. |

I new it was to keep the heat in but never thought it could make a fire go out. I keep mine uder the hood as the cold weather is comming, but I probably will take it out when summer will be back. You don't need it, but it helps when it's cold. You say your engine runs very hot.. How hot? Where is your indicator at? Mine is at about 170 degrees (its angle, not the temperature), close to the heat thingy drawing in the cluster. If it's way over that, around 150 degrees or less, you might wanna change your prestone 1st and check if your radior is still good. If it's not much hotter, then it's nothing to worry about. |

since I've gotten an aftermarket intake, mine has been running a lot cooler now, even at high speeds. When driving on side roads its just over a quarter of the way up and when im on the highway, it only gets to just under half.
Where is your needle at under normal driving conditions? |
