I was wondering..
How could I stop the DRL from lighting? I think it kills the look when they're on and pretty useless. Exept from letting the hand brake up of one notch, is there any other solution like cutting a wire or what ever? Thanks! This post has been edited by dudeofchaos: Sep 24, 2010 - 7:42 PM |

6gc celicas never came with drl. 7th gen celicas did. When I had my 2000 celica gts, I had to cut a wire. My is300, there was a plug.

DRL's only came on Canadian spec model.
Its mandatory to have them, and its also illegal to drive without them. Well that's how the rules are in BC anyway. But yeah usually its just another wire connected to the high beam headlight. Cut that it well stop working. This post has been edited by vile_v: Sep 24, 2010 - 12:33 AM -------------------- |

You should not remove your DRLs at any time for any car in Quebec. They are mandatory according to the CSR (Code de la Sécurité Routière) and you can get a ticket for having a car without DRLs (not sure, but I think it's a 154$ fine).
Even myself who has an imported GT4, I needed to install DRLs to be legal. They're not required at inspection and I see many cars with disabled DRLs, but I prefer the legal way, I don't want to end up getting a ticket just because of some DRLs. Depending of the equipment on your car, you could switch your DRLs to your fog lights for example, it's all wiring things up, which is not hard at all. |

before you start your car, click your e brake up once and when you go to put it in gear the headlights should not come on.
My buddy in a hond taught me that haha. -------------------- -Protection mode, For when your amp tries to blow its load. 1995 Toyota Celica GTS - Daily Driver 1999 Chevy Cavalier - Winter Beater 1994 Honda Civic CX Hatchback - Dead My Celica! |

I know it's not legal but I don't really care haha. You should not remove your DRLs at any time for any car in Quebec. I would, but I don't have fogs on it so I can't I know it's mandatory, but I seriously don't care much. Do you think it would be possible to change de DRL from the high beams to the low beams? before you start your car, click your e brake up once and when you go to put it in gear the headlights should not come on. My buddy in a hond taught me that haha. Yeah that's what I do actually. But I wanted to find another way to disable them. This post has been edited by dudeofchaos: Sep 24, 2010 - 1:04 PM |

You could switch your DRL from high beams to low beams pretty easily as well. There would be 2 options that I would know how to do...
1) I don't know how the DRL circuit is done on Celicas, but here is what you could do... Delete the DRLs and wire the low beams to turn on when you turn your key to the on position. Costs very little, but you're stuck with DRLs that are as bright as the real low beams (which I don't think looks too good). 2) Buy some JDM headlights (either projectors or regular ones) and you have a nice socket for a 194 bulb in the low beam. Just put a LED 194 bulb in that socket and you have very nice looking DRLs (even a regular 194 bulb works and looks better than DRLs in high beams, but LED bulbs looks very nice). |

Oh, I didn't know about number 2! Thanks a lot! I was actually planning to buy Jdm low beams projectors and clear high beams. So I sure will do this! Will there be any wiring cutting/connections to do to switch the DRL to the Low beams' 194 bulb? Sorry, I'm not too good with electrical parts haha. I guess I'll have to cut the wires from the High beams' DRL at least? This post has been edited by dudeofchaos: Sep 28, 2010 - 9:07 AM |

Of cource you will need to run a wire for that 194 bulb in the low beams and you'll need to cut your current DRL as you guessed.
In my opinion, that is what looks the best. It looks nice, it's not anoying and it's legal. |

I think it doesn't look good when they're on (with the low beams off). So I guess I will go with this option! Thanks a lot for the information! what are DRL?? I'm not planning to have them soon because I've got some things to do before going in the exterior styling but I sure will get them as soon as possible1 |
