We were off on the notes, I took a Right 6 at Right 3 speed.... slide off the road and over a basketball size boulder.

Good thing the brake and fuel lines are rerouted through the cockpit; otherwise they were toast.

Well at least it didn't cause any major damage! Just bang it out with some hammers haha

i think it would be better to cut that peace of metal out and weld in another in its place then just hammering it out

Floor is fixed, just cut out about a 1.5x1' square and welded a new piece back in then welded the seat bracket back to the new piece.

Haha well, I had 6 of them throughout the weekend none were perfectly executed. I can't get it into 1st while still moving at any decent rate of speed.

I can get the car spund around and pointed in the right direction quickly, but there's a little pause before I take off again.

haha, you're probably a better driver than I am, but I would think that you might have to "help" the synchronizers in the tranny out a little bit. So maybe get on the gas real good as you move from the higher gear toward first to about 4500-5000 rpm or so, might go in easier then.
Regardless how it went in reality.... that must be one of the more fun looking things I've ever seen. awd celi in a rally race nice

haha, just own 3 of them like I do lol - its a simple process really. You buy one, you hit a deer at very high velocity. You buy another pos one to fix your first one, then get on 6gc and really fall in love with the car. And after you have those first two, you buy a third to make your project and everything a Celica should have always been.

when driving heavily you have to floor it with the clutch and push into 1st...the car will know when to get into gear...but if you rev too high you will miss the sweetspot

I know the concept of how to downshift into first gear, but there's a hell of a lot going on.

Keep in mind i'm flying into that corner at about 75 mph blind on gravel. Unless I can heel to toe, which I can't especially with the pedal setup and my big ass feet.



I do it all the time in my audi on snow, but it's completely different being in a race situation.

Yeah, the stock Celica pedals suck for heel to toe.

This is awesome man, I love your car and I love your work.

REALLY makes me wanna rally my 165 but I'm a long way mechanically (I can't weld) and financially from that at the moment. God, I want a cage!

Oh i wasn't trying to insult your intelligence by any means just my .02 which was really worth about .00 to someone who does it ALL the time lol. I guess you never drove it around much without all of your mods so it would be hard to tell, but I was going to ask you how the awd felt in that car in comparison to the stock fwd.

No worries. The learning curve is pretty steep for me here, mainly because I dont live in an area that allows me to practice at all.

Engine out again... 3rd time in 2 months. Swapping in an exedy 3 puck clutch. The centerforce hybrid I have was basically had the stock clamping force. Wasn't cutting it. 3sgte flywheel too.

Also putting in a 121 liter engine in.

Ehh, there's a few hurdles... my exhaust is a pain in the ass to get off. I was in a hurry and didn't use the right flanges. The slide in flanges with clamps suck.

Also my rear engine/tranny mount sucks to get in and off. I made it and its a really tight fit to get a socket in there. It has to come off in a certain order. Also draining the fluids is also a pain...


Hopefully i'll have some videos after next race. I leave two weeks from tomorrow.

Got the new clutch in the car. Feels 100x better. I can actually feel the clutch bite when shifting now.

I also think the last one was robbing me of HP (well just adding drivetrain loss). The centerforce pressure plate was about 1/2 inch thicker than the exedy. The pressure plate was rubbing on the inside of the bellhousing. Initially it just lathed itself in there perfectly and drove fine, but I think when the clutch got hot it would expand and slow the car down due to the friction. When we removed it, the normally gold painted pressure plate had a coating of meltedish aluminum on it.

Feels like i picked up about 20 hp and actually grabs hard. Now all i have to worry about is breaking cv joints off the line. 7000 RPM clutch dump, hopefully those tires break loose a little. With the last clutch I couldnt even spin tire on gravel. Clutch just slipped.


Also added Super Blue racing clutch fluid. After about 16 hard miles without stopping the fluid started to boil. I think this is due to running at +5k rpms for about 20 straight minutes. The clutch slave sits about 5 inches from the header and its cast iron so itll definately heat soak.
