Look on crutchfield.com, they're sometimes expensive but will give you an installation guide, customer support, and an installation kit specific to your car (if applicable) for everything you buy.
The 12V power wire can go through the firewall in an existing hole, and it will come out a few inches above the dead pedal in the driver's side foot well. The hole is above the brake booster, it's on the right side of the engine bay (driver's side). Nope, mine was already there. The blue wire was there already as well. There's a possibility that the previous owner drilled that hole, and in that case, you can use its location as a template for drilling your own.

Just so you know, manuals have a clutch master cylinder there. So that hole, whether it was there from the previous owner or the factory, is inaccessible to those of us with a manual transmission. It's best to drill your own hole after some careful measurements.
The dash kit you can get from Wal Mart or Ebay or pretty much anywhere that sells dash kits. That's easy enough to find. I dont mean to steal the question here but is this not always a problem?
I looked at walmart and the only intallation kit i found had 5th and 7th gen but not ours. I bought it anyways thinking theres no way it could be THAT different but its like a quarter inch too wide for the console. The radio i have flips down like its supposed to but is catching the console and i cant push it in. i guess i dont have the right one already in it... I just cant find a new kit anywhere. any luck? EDIT: well, i finally had an epiphany this evening. my radio goes in from the outside. OMG ha i can drop a transmission but ask me to put a square peg in a square hole..... i had to grind down the console a bit, but it fits tight and looks good. so scratch all that. our cars dont use kits, you can make holes on the radio brakets 0.5 or 1cm away from original hole depending on the locations.
