I've already boosted fuel effeiency by upgrading my plugs. It's worth it.

That's probably because your old plugs were all burnt out...

Like mentioned before... you won't feel anything, wastin money on Iridium plugs and such... unless your old plugs were already messed up to begin with. I mean, it's a 7AFE goddamn it... instead of having just 110 hp... I need to spend 40-50 dollars and have 110.2 hp... heh (i know from experience... I built an all-motor 7AFE costing me $$$)

How far did you go with it? What kind of power did you make? This is the first I've heard of anybody really doing this.

like someone said above they dont' do jack...I spent $14 for EACH sparkplug only to realize no gain was made from them except a little smoother idle and pickup...which im sure i could've got from $5 dollar ones.

Just put coppers in and change them every 15k miles. Thats just a waste of money. Unless your a turbo car then it makes no difference.

Won't they make up the difference in price since they last like 100,000 miles?

I went pretty far. It was about 3 years ago when I was taking autoX courses. The stuff I had done was mostly headwork. Machined head, P&P, valve job, titanium springs/retainers, etc. Just about everything in the head minus cams, pushrods, and the cam gear. It originally dynoed stock about 90 something whp (40K motor) and after it was fully built (estimated $700+ or so in custom work plus my own work [that's just headwork, not including exhaust, header, CAI, UD pulley, SAFC]) dynoed around 126 whp, poorly tuned. I never got the chance to fully tune the motor. The only tuning It ever got was dyno tuning a safc. I started getting rod knocks and eventually started losing compression. I replaced the rings and ran the car a few times, till I spun out and crashed while running at Thunderhills raceway in Willows, CA. The motor died from the accident, or the motor's death caused the accident, but anyways, yeah. It's not really worth the money cause you can literally go out and buy a faster car cheaper. I doubt my all-motor 7AFE set-up could even roll with modded Integra GSRs and B16 Civics and stuff, so it wasn't that fast. I never tracked that car, but I would estimate mid-high 15's...

sounds nice, thats some pretty decent gains maybe all u needed is a tubo but wouldnt be NA anymore but at the looks of it u could get pretty good gains with all that head work plus a turbo..... smile.gif

They are decent gains, but mind you, I spent a lot more than what It would have costed me to go turbo. That includes all of the little things that broke on me, things I had to re-do, things I had to replace, etc. 126 whp is only about 150 bhp or so for our cars... so it's not very significant gains. I guess you could have compared that power output to that of a modded 7th gen GT (although I would prefer the 7th gen GT to my fully built ST because of the superior suspension and chassi design alone). As for now, heh... my mind is on different things and autoX isn't one of them. Actually, my Celica isn't even one of them...;]
