Just brought home a '98 Celica GT Convertible with what looks like all the options and a new top... It's so hard to find these things around here the owner of the place I bought it from said that it's the first convertible Celica he'd had there in 24 years...
One thing I gotta ask: Is faux wood paneling a factory option? I haven't seen another Celi with it. Needless to say, I am one happy camper. Pictures to follow at some point. :-) |

Where abouts in Mass. are you? I'm at college in FL but when I was shopping for my first celica up there (1998) there was a bunch in the WantAds. I'm from Lynn originally. Anyway, good to hear you got what you wanted. Welcome.

They're that rare? I think I've seen one or two others in my travels. Wish I had the money for modding, but buying the car itself cleaned me out... and I guess living in the suburbs (or at school in the middle of nowhere) kind of takes the fun out of having a flashy street racer :-P

I think the wood was a dealer add on or something because I've seen quite a few convertibles with it.

Welcome to the board. I'm from Springfield, MA originally. Main thing I miss is the snow, and trips to Boston and NYC.
Around here there are 6-7 6th gen convertibles. Probably about 20 6th gens in town. Although recently I haven't them as much. |

There's a white 6th gen convertible running around campus (BU) He's got an exhaust that's all I can see. Pretty nice car!
There's also a really shiny red hatchback... that is also very nice.. a black hatchback, a green st, etc... and mine.. there's lots of 6gc's around here... we should have a MA meet This post has been edited by holson: Nov 25, 2003 - 2:35 AM |

Yea, I'm at Boston College and there are a couple of 6g's on my campus. I didn't see that many in Chicago, but I see a lot of them up here in Boston. By the way, I know people from Lowell and Lynn. It's good to see you found a 6g Holson.

Nice! You know, I actually have a 'vert question... Is it safe to drive with the top down if you don't put the boot over it? I only ask because I noticed that when I lower the top it still sticks up a little and looks like it might become a sail :-)

Lol, it's safe don't worry about it iv'e been up to around 80 some with the top like that, air doesn't really hit that part much, but i'm still trying to get the boot, it looks way better with it. And I need to fix my rear windows, one of them doesn't work so I keep both up.

Celica verts aren't that rare...well not THAT rare. Hell, I have the first Celica vert made in 99. Yea its pretty safe to run without the boot on.......hell mine didn't come with one LOL. I've had alot of problems with the top though.......but hopefully that won't happen with yours...

Looks that way... Apparently the first owner was from Pennsylvania, then it moved to Connecticut, then to me. I've finally got my pics up now that I have access to a computer that can deal with the camera I used :-)
