hey all, so i just recently got a 97 celica st, and i want to get a new intake since i just have the stock intake box on there right now, but i dont know that much about engines and the mechanics that are behind them, im looking for any boost in horsepower but i mostly want that cool racing sound that you see in all those street racing flicks (call me a ricer or whatever i like it lol) so another thing i want is a new exhaust, whats a decently priced yet good performance exhaust i should lookout for? thanks in advance. oh and btw this is my first post on the forums but ive been lurking for like 3 weeks, i was shown this site by my friend who sold me the car which is a silver celica st with a carbon fiber hood/hatch front, back bumper and sideskirts have a bodykit also.

UPDATE: i now have like 10 pics of my celica in my profile so if you wanna see it there on there for your veiwing pleasure!

First things first, welcome to the forum. Post a pic of your car!

As for your question, what you are hearing in those movies is the exhaust. Members with ST's will be able to tell you more about what sounds best for the exhaust.

As for the intake, we are pretty limited. You can get on Ebay and get a short ram intake for something like $30 shipped. It will give you, in all reality, maybe 1 whole horsepower. But it sounds cool. Your other option is to custom fabricate a cold air intake. It isn't difficult to do if you take your time. It might give you 2 horsepower, if you're lucky. Browse around the forums and you'll be able to figure out exactly what you want and what will work best for you.

But mostly just post some pictures of your car wink.gif

Welcome to the forum! Theres another member, CAMARICER that lives in Santa Rosa and has 2 6gcs. It sounds to me like you bought one of them!

As for mods id say go to a local exhaust shop and ask for a quote for a cat-back exhaust system, then if you want yo ucan search online and find a muffler you like, buy it and bring it to the shop and they can build you a system!(should be 150-300$ for a 2" catback system".

edit:you did buy Nams car! He just told me! haha Nice pick up!

yeah i bought the silver st from Nam, hes definitly one of the coolest guys ive ever met. im pretty much trying to put together a wish list for the car once i finish paying nam. (this is my first car) ive always liked the cars from those movies yknow fast and furious, initial D and the like so for possible future modifications heres what im thinking...
-short ram intake
-2" catback exhaust (thanks for the tips btw)
-paintjob (gunmetal grey)
-paintjob for the alloys (red/crimson)
-underglow kit (red)

but as i said this is simply a wish list at this stage and as this is my first car (and i think im super lucky getting an awesome celica) i love this car its my new most prized possesion and i gotta give Nam all the credit, its like a dream for me to have a car like this and its all thanks to him, so i cant wait to see how it goes and turns out in the future.

oh and once i get my camera working with the labtop my GF just got(black friday ftw) ill get pics up asap!

Unless you plan on turbo, go with 2.25". I have a Greddy SP2 exhaust and it's piping is 2.25". It sounds great and it's a bolt on exhaust for our cars. I think someone is selling one in the Buying/Selling section. Just ask around.

Stock on a ST is 1.75", 2.25" is ok but 2.5" is to big. As ull lose some power.
