2UR would never fit without some major fabrication.
I mainly just want to try out the 3S, as I've still never experienced a turbo MR2. Pieces ordered so far: OEM gasket kit OEM oil pump OEM water pump OEM timing belt OEM pulleys and tensioner OEM thermostat All of the hoses from hell ARP head studs South Bend stage 2 organic clutch kit New friction plate for my Fidanza flywheel Mishimoto radiator TCS intercooler kit TCS 4" intake Blitz type VD BOV Probably more has been ordered. I'm not out in the garage looking at the shelf to know. I will sell off the V6 for now, but I'll probably come back to it, maybe in another shell. It really is a whole lot of fun. I'm only doing a small amount after work every day, but this week I got the engine on the stand and started tearing down. I have already tossed on the TCS coolant neck, but it'll be coming off again. The turbo will be broken down and hot tanked.
The head is going to go out to be cleaned up and have the valve stem seals replaced. In the meantime I have ordered a Berk downpipe, new distributor, cap, rotor, wires, and plugs, PCV and grommet, and a new turbo manifold. Pics when they arrive. -------------------- 1991 MR2 - T-tops - Crimson Red - Gen3 3SGTE - Lots of money

I haven't taken a bunch of pictures, but this should work. A little port work. I'm not finished with it yet, so this will be updated.

Well since Photobucket has killed themselves by wanting to charge customers $400 to host photos, all of my pics are broken until I can move them to Imgur and edit the posts.
I'll probably have Prime MR2 do it. I haven't called BNR to find out what their rebuild consists of, but the services that Prime has offered to the MR2 community have been well received. As far as an update goes, photos will come in a bit. I sent a lot of pieces off to be ceramic coated a couple of weeks ago, so those should be back soon. I have the block torn down completely, and it is currently sitting with vinegar in the coolant channels to break up all of the rust. Then it'll be neutralized in the parts washer, and reassembled. Once it is back I'll start assembling and taking plenty of photos. Edit: I did want to swap out the coilovers during this time, and I really enjoyed my KW's on the FRS, so I splurged on a set. I then topped them with Wilhelm Race Works' top mounts: http://wilhelmraceworks.com/coilover-top-mounts For those who own cars that are supported by KW, I would highly recommend them. After installing, I went out and grabbed these shots. No more rubbing due to the new camber curve. Edit 2: yeah I have large photos. You can thank Photobucket for being dicks. I'm on my second prime upgraded turbo in ~ 600 miles and already having slight issues. Tread carefully my friend. If I could do it again I would have gone name brand aftermarket in a heartbeat. Not trying to bash anyone's work but just trying to inform..

Yeah well....
And all of the pics are broken now... or at least all from my active Photobucket account. I'll try to find another chassis to drop the V6 back into. This post has been edited by 95CelicaST: Jul 2, 2017 - 11:10 PM -------------------- 1991 MR2 - T-tops - Crimson Red - Gen3 3SGTE - Lots of money

Naturally.
No, I think that since I have pretty much another MR2 in my garage, it'll be easier to just find a rolling shell and dump my collection of parts into it. The problem is finding a base MR2 around the Pacific Northwest that isn't $3000 and up. -------------------- 1991 MR2 - T-tops - Crimson Red - Gen3 3SGTE - Lots of money

Or rusted to hell so bad that the original engine is literally falling out. That's why I gave up on getting a MR2 in the Midwest, they're all falling apart or priced to the point where you'd never want to drive it once you bought it. I'd LOVE a tiny lil 1st gen but rust.

My friend dismantled the bottom end today to throw it in the parts washer. Gave it a coat of primer, and followed up with gloss black. Looks great.
That's where the fun ends. The bearings have what looks to be abnormal (heavy to one side) wear. So that sucks, but I'm glad we found it now. So the crank and block are going to the machine shop to get mic'ed to make sure they're okay. New main and rod bearings, and piston rings to come, pending the outcome of the machine shop. -------------------- 1991 MR2 - T-tops - Crimson Red - Gen3 3SGTE - Lots of money

All the wear is near the oiling hole, is it in the direction of rotation? I wonder if it sucked some air and had cavitation bubbles eating the bearing that started the wear like that? Was the worst one #1 or #4?

#2 is the worst, and is in the direction of rotation.
