Since you guys seem to know a lot, I come to you because I am almost feeling like just getting a new engine with everything.

Ok, 92 MR2 Turbo. I had this issue where the clutch pedal feels soft and when the car is warmed up and begins to be driven, I push in the clutch pedal and my RPMs will drop and the car stalls. Now sometimes it would stick half way to come back up, and I would kick it back up as well. Here's what I have done and what I know...

The turbo has too much shaft play but spools just fine
It does smoke, so I am wondering if exhaust fumes are getting into my air intake and affecting it in that sense
I changed the clutch and o-ring for the distributor, as oil was leaking from the distributor and going into the tranny
I changed the Master Cylinder, as that was in question for this issue
The slave cylinder appears fine, and the Master tech at work said it didn't need to be changed, however since I have a new one, I am planning on doing that


We bled out the clutch pedal and it felt a bit more stiff, but once it was engaged to drive again, it did it all over again.

Now perhaps the last few bleeding attempts, it did run dry in the reservoir, so I need to get my friend to help me out now that I brought it home to try that once again. However I need to pinpoint this mess.

Are there only hard lines in the clutch system? Or are there any part of rubber I need to be aware of that possibly opens more with possible cracks that is allowing air to get in there? Or is this perhaps another issue?


I am at a loss here and it is bugging the hell out of me. I am lacking tools right now and won't have all the necessary tools to swap motors, pull out trannies, etc, until about March. So I am very limited on what I can do which is why I am asking. I did ask on the MR2 boards with only suggestions, but nothing 100% related to this issue.

sounds like it could be a vacume line issue (SP)

That's what someone suggested, but it was fine earlier this year when I had got the car. We tried spraying brake cleaner in the bay and found nothing. Gawd! I swear, word to the wise... Be careful buying USED CARS! You take on someone else's problems unaware of what they have done to it. I found one wire that has a resistor added to it. WTF? I changed it with my other MR2 turbo and it functions the same. This is retarded! Plenty of people posted this issue online and not one has a 100% cause or resolve to this.
