I don't know why, but the Veilside or similar knockoffs make me want to puke. Especially with that rear bumper. I'm not bashing on anyone's car, I understand and respect the creed of to each his own. That damn bodykit doesn't follow any lines on our cars AT ALL and it's just over the top in every way. I'm also not a fan of the "C-5" or similar kits. I love how the REAL C-One kit looks and I don't know why no one here in the states makes the skirts and the rear lip. I found a site that imports C-One stuff and got in touch with someone and priced out an authentic kit with front bumper, skirts, rear lip and hood. It came out to just over $3,000 which seems reasonable and I'd pay that for a high quality kit, the only down side is it'd cost almost FOUR grand to ship it here. Blah, it'd be so nice to have a quality replica of that kit. /end rant.

So what is your guys' kryptonite when it comes to body kits for our cars?

Although im not a big fan of the Veilside (/knock offs), to each their own. And while the "real" kits would be nice, they cost as well. Myself, I like the SS-III "kits" and the TRD ones as well. Am in total love with the TRD bumper cover, although thats money too.
But in all honesty, I dont really see the point of this thread. Been on here long enough to know that everyone has their own tastes, and I guess that's what makes this place great. So while I may not enjoy the aesthetics of some kits, I can appreciate the work that went into making them fit. And although I may not like it, I know that the person who put on the kit, did so with their own tastes in mind.

authentic c-one kit is $4,457.98 shipped. very nice kit but skirts are not my favorite, i prefer the way-glides (gangs-jail) or "trd's".

eurou kits are also very nice.

i got lucky and got authentic c-one lip (new), and authentic trd sides and splitters (used) for less than $1000. one pic in profile, will do a shoot in the spring.

I personally don't like bodykits, besides OEM kits. But you know, people work hard and want their cars to look nice so it doesn't bother me. It's what they want to do to their Celica and what makes them happy at the end of the day. I just enjoy looking at other member's work of art. That is all smile.gif

i agree, I couldn't ever bring myself to put the invader type kit on my car. My goal is for GT4 front end, Eurou front lip, zapt rear and either 404,jdm or stock side skirts. I've got all of it except the zapt rear. Just can't decide if i want to keep the 404's or go to the stock skirt.. i like the clean look of the stock skirt on our cars. Also the zapt has proven to be almost impossible to find. I might just make one.

I myself cannot stand body kits, on our car or any others, mostly because they always fit like garbage and nobody ever takes the time to make it look right, an i obviously am with you all i love the way my SSIII kit looks, it did take a little work but its not huge boxy bumpers and vents all over the place. but like stated before to each is own

I think the days for flashy kits are over, Back in the early 2000s I bet that veilside kit was considered absolutely awesome.
I have that rear bumper on my ride currently, loved it at first but now im kinda over it so im gonna change back to stock rear and trd splitters (much to the dismay of all my mates who still seem to love it)
I can see where your coming from though, the trend these days does seem to be a cleaner more oem look.
I agree with what block said.

I'm in agreement with everyone. Like I said in the OP to each their own. I just wanted to see the general consensus on here. I'm guilty of doing the body kit thing back in 05 haha. I had the "B2" kit on my 05 XRS. I hated it after it went on the car. I swapped it out for some still aftermarket but higher quality FRP front and rear lips from Vuteq. I think the body kit phase is dying out. Like it has been said the OEM/JDM but still customized look is in. And even though the hellaflush thing looks good, I wish it would die off as well.

I agree that the aftermarket body kit stuff is fading and in my OP I think some of them look ugly, but yet others looks amazing. Everyone that I know seems to be going for the nice OEM look, whether is be from the US or other countries. I've seen quite a few RHD cars in my area as well. As for the hellaflush, it's not my "cup of tea" but I wouldn't mind being close to flush after I get new rims. It's looks really good on some car though

My Opinions:

1. HellaFUCTIONAL > HellaFlush
2. the only thing besides rims that id want for cosmetics would be jdm tails, projector headlights, carbon fiber hatch and hood, and a rear diffuser.

this is a perfect example of performance, non-rice, simply clean, and sexy..it doesnt need aftermarket bodykits to look like a hot beast

eh, I was in high school when the whole fast and furious rage started... so in my mind, 90% of AM kits are horrid looking and remind me of RICE. I HATE rice( still meaning the car kind)... even Japanese tuner stuff goes way too far. loud, ugly sounding exhaust that go on every civic because they "think" it will make the car go ultimate super speeds... or something.... combined with shotty put on kits. ruins all that for me.

I think subtle clean lines, with little 'flare' makes a car beautiful. but like its been said, to each their own. A lot of the guys around here who do put body kits on do a great job, and are really awesome people...

I wish I was fast enough getting my phone out for a pic today. I was driving around for work and saw a Pontiac Sunbird with a huge unpainted body kit and wing, 15" chrome wheels and dual exhaust with a giant HONDA sticker on the hood. I don't know how people can drive around and say, damn, I look good in this. And as for "cleaner than a hookers butt crack"...

well I think in some cases, its "well I know this car is ****, everyone else knows its ****, so why don't i have fun with it..." now that being said... I think appearance counts for a lot, so even being seen in something like that would kill me...

and yes yes those are real nice cars.

Even though my car may be half black and half silver, it looks pretty nice IMO. Some people give me that weird look and others don't. There's a guy that shops at the place I work at all the time, and about a month or two ago I was going out to my car and we had about a 30 minute conversation about my car and what happened, and what i plan on doing and etc. He even complimented on what I have done to the car myself and on what I plan on doing. It was nice to know that some people appreciate certain cars no matter how bad they may look. I dont appreciate POS ricer's though.

Yes appearance means a lot to some people, like me, and there's other people that don't give a damn.
I could never drive in a car like the one described above though lmao I would be wayyy too embarrassed.
But in the end to each his own, and I will always respect that.

wow man who did you contact on that bodykit c-one and cfive kits you can get usually from vision autodynamics and extreme dimensions for around 450 or so and the c5 from raceon usa for around the same fitment is usually fairly decent an only require light mods shipping usually about 150-180 i can probly get you the kit at a cheaper price ive been doing business with them for the past 6 years and i can help you out if a bit and you can mix aND MATCH SIDESKIRTS and rear ends FROM other kits as well let me know man

Haha I'm not looking to mix and match. If I were to do any kind of body kit, it'd be the real C-One stuff. I just picked up some SS-III splitters from a guy on here and that's about all I'm doing to the car. I have the XRunner to keep my wallet empty smile.gif

i've tried the knockoff c-one bumper from extreme dimensions and 404 skirts (way-glide knockoff), both fit like garbage, huge modification would be needed to make them fit.

then got authentic c-one lip and toyota "trd" skirts, fitment was perfect.
