your steering wheel bolts into that?...
I've never seen it before though and it looks like it's attached to the steering column |

It looks like you're trying to remove an aftermarket steering wheel hub. From what I see, you've already removed the center nut. That should be the only thing holding it down. It will just be on really tight, so some force will need to be applied. Some people will recommend reinstalling the steering wheel after removing the center nut, and then pulling the wheel and hub off together. However, since it can sometimes require a lot of force, it could possibly damage the screws which connect the wheel to the hub. You may want to use a steering wheel puller. Not the type which has bolts to thread into the wheel, but the type that has arms which pull the wheel/hub from behind. With the puller you should have no problem removing it at all

i was able to remove it with a steering wheel puller. I had to remove it because the last owner didnt reinstall it properly and the plastic thing for the intercaters wasnt in the right place. Now how do I install it straight to the column ?

Hey, how do you remove the aluminum thing that the steering wheel bolts onto ? I've tried pulling it off.. but no luck ? ![]() What the hell is that? Lol, yea the steering wheel puller is your best friend for this job. You just put a $20 deposit at Advance Auto Parts and when you return it, you get your $20 back. I had to use this a couple weeks ago. -Ryan |

if I am replacing my oem steering wheel with the 7gc wheel...how do i know how to put the 7gc steering wheel on in the right location since i won't be using the old steering wheel anymore? how did you do it and how do you know? (i am suppose to make a marking on the steering wheel, but if it's not the same steering wheel, then the alignment would be off correct?)
thanks for your help in advance. This post has been edited by chacha: Dec 20, 2010 - 1:21 AM |

The when the previous owner of my celica installed the aftermarket steering wheel, they didnt align the hub and the plastic thing which clicks the indicaters off when turning. I'm not to sure how to properly align the steering wheel to the column. I installed the hub on the steering column and drove along a straight road and marked on the hub where it was straight and then transfered the line to the steering column spline and put the hub on accordingly. My mate just drove along on a straight road and just kept adjusting it until he was happy with it. -------------------- ![]() |
