I would like to remove and repaint the plastic cover for the passenger side airbag. Does anyone know if this is possible without harming the airbag system? It looks like the cover can simply be pried off, painted and replaced. I don't want to do this though if it will damage anything. What's the best way to remove it?

nopee not that easy at all my man.
you have to unbolt the whole airbag and pull it out. the plastic cover it bolted to the airbag and there are 2 small clips that break (if the airbag goes off) so that it will pop open. this will require for you to partially pull out your dash on that side to reach all the bolts. |

What if I just masked it off in the dash and painted it? Is yours kind of faded like mine? It doesn't look totally black anymore. Kind of brown. I bought some Rust-oleum Paint for Plastic at AutoZone.

black shoe polish works extremely well and blends perfectly with the dash.
