Just saw a thread alike this on a UK celica forum under generation 7 celica's. Found it pretty funny to read.

I'll start out wink.gif

At some place i lived earlier, The neighbors kids was like "Wow, is it a porsche?".

When i go to some drag racing places, People always love it, I had my drags with it wink.gif. I only was racing a BMW 325 vs my 3sge. it won 1 round and i won 2 tongue.gif.

Anyone else got some stories to tell?.

Dont worry, Its very arranged, At an industrial area with volunteers with self lighting vest's making sure there is no one racing with any "civilists" in the area wink.gif

We are fighting hard with the goverment from all areas of the country to get some legal area's, Untill then, We will just have to arrange it ourself (Many many thousands if you include the whole continent), There have never been any persons harmed in the 10 years in the whole country. So i wouldent worry smile.gif. I only dragged once, Mostly watching biggrin.gif

When people says "street racing" i think people misunderstands it as some guys hanging out in the city racing from one street light to the others. I understand why people dont like that, I dont do it either. But those arranged street racings, Long away from any civil people and with people with walkie talkies making sure everything is safe before any cars drag hegother, I think its perfectly okay.

Most people who attend to this stuff in Denmark, Does it because we love cars and have a passion for them. There is idiots out there who drives too fast, On the websites with cars and stuff, People have the exactly same opinion as we do, if they see a video with people racing wildly in the cities they also tell them they are unresponsible

Street racing is a taboo because it takes a certain mind to appreciate it. Most people here either don't have means to do it or can not afford it or just simply repeat someones words. Yes there are irresponsible street racers such as 15 year olds who just got their driver's license and cant drive in a straight line let alone handle anything faster than a kia.

Street racing is no more dangerous than a teenager who is driving and texting or a soccer mom who multitasks or a half asleep guy who is weaving all over or an old person who cant even see above the steering wheel. When done responsibly street racing can be fun and safe at the same time. It happens all over the world and it does not matter if its bikes, cars, scooters, horses, camels, bicycles, pogo sticks... as long as you put 2 men with 2 sources of transportation... you will have a race.

I do not recommend street racing but I do support it. After all that is why all of us want to put power modifications... to go faster than the other guy... ideally a lot faster.

When I was washing her, a guy walked by and said "Wow, dad's letting you wash his car huh?" That was a pretty big compliment.

But opinions seem very much polarized; either people compliment or say "WTF, it's just a Toyota...no big deal."

I get compliments everywhere I go. All my coworkers and boss drool all over my car. The other night after I installed my splitters I rolled to in-n-out and there was a meet full of hondas and nissans in the next parking lot over. As soon as I parked my car a crowd of people walked over to look at it bickering over whether or not its a supra or an 8th gen celica smile.gif

And the other day at the golf course where I work there was a guy standing there looking at it in the parking lot. I went up and talked to him and he said he used to have a '76 celica liftback and it reminded him of his car and complimented my car saying it's the most beautiful celica he had ever seen smile.gif

The only time I ever get complements is from Honda people(for some reason IDK), a few older gents every once in a blue moon. I understand though, it's the down side of living in Cincinnati.

celica's are not really appreciated in my area...

never get compliments, not even from car friends.

in the end, a celica is just a celica frown.gif
